Ida M. Aubin, 87, of 29637 NYS Route 12 Watertown died Thursday, June 8th at her home.
Born Ida M. Salisbury July 6, 1929 in Watertown, she was the foster daughter of the late George and Mae Haley. Ida attended Watertown schools and was an honor student. She was employed at the Olga Knitting Mill as a seamstress after high school.
She married the love of her life, Alcid D. Aubin, on August 23, 1947 at Holy Family Church with Msgr. William J. Argy, officiating.
Ida was a devoted wife and mother and was an excellent homemaker. She enjoyed caring for her husband and family. Family get-togethers with her large family meant a great deal to her. Her gentle smile and enthusiasm for good conversation will be deeply missed by many. She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, knitting, crossword puzzles, and Jeopardy. Ida was a communicant of St. James Church in Carthage and was devoted to her faith.
Surviving are her seven children and their spouses: Gary (Roberta) of Copenhagen, Timothy (Sheila) of Bradenton, FL, David (Pamela) of Watertown, Daniel (Joanie) of Black River, Paul (Janet) of Copenhagen, Sandra Jones (Peter) of Copenhagen, and Lori Snyder (Jeff) of Copenhagen. Ida was the grandmother to nineteen grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and a great great granddaughter. She is also survived by a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leo and Irene Aubin of Pensacola, FL, and three sisters-in-law Rita Gracey of Calcium, Claire Haggerty of Bristol, TN, and Lois Aubin of Copenhagen. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
The funeral mass will be 11:00am Monday, June 12 at St. James Church, Carthage. Burial will follow the service in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Copenhagen. Calling hours will be from 5-8:00pm Sunday, June 12 at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to a charity of one’s choice.
