Massena: Eileen L. Littlejohn, 92, passed away Sunday morning (June 18, 2017) at Massena Memorial Hospital, surrounding by her loving family. Friends and family may be received on Thursday June 22, 2017 from 3-6 pm at Phillips Memorial Home in Massena. Funeral services will be held on Friday June 23, 2017 at 11:30 am at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Massena with Mother Kathryn Boswell celebrating and Rev. Art Garno assisting. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery II, Norfolk.
Eileen was born on July 9, 1924 in Whitegate, County Clare, Ireland the daughter of Richard and Kathleen (Wallace) Copithorne. She came to Canada with her family and settled in Cornwall, Ont. And graduated from Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational School with a Commercial Diploma. She married Norman E. Littlejohn on December 11, 1948 at Trinity Anglican Church in Cornwall, ONT.
She was employed as a cashier by the Canadian Bank of Commerce, Cornwall, until her marriage. She then moved to Massena, where she worked part-time in the office of W.L. Smith Hardware, SUNY Potsdam State as a billing clerk and Metropolitan Petroleum Oil Company.
Eileen is survived by a son and daughter, Rev. N. Richard and wife Catherine Littlejohn of Louisville, and Gerald and Sue Maston of Massena, four granddaughters, Emily Maston, Alicia and husband Tyler Coffin, Lisa and husband Sean Haber and Leslie and husband Nate Mattison, and several nieces and nephews, also special friends and care givers, Marie and Beth. She was predeceased by her husband Norman, six sisters and two brothers, Elizabeth Lalonde, Margaret Jacobs, Clara Gibson, Tempy MacRae, Kathleen Kirk, Evelyn Groves, Harry Copithorne, Richard Copithorne,
She was a member of the Massena Country Club, Ladies Golf Association, Cretona Chapter 516 Order of the Eastern Star and a devout member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, besides golf, her hobbies include reading, knitting and crocheting.
