Alma “Midge” Jones

Alma Rose “Midge” Jones, Adams Center, died June 19, 2017 at the Hospice Residence at Ellis Farm surrounded by her loving family, after a long, brave battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 75.

The memorial service will be held in the chapel of TLC Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Internment will be private at Brookside Cemetery. Friends and family are cordially invited to a celebration of life gathering immediately following the memorial service at the Sackets Harbor American Legion Post 1757.

Calling hours will be Friday, June 23, 2017 at the funeral home from 4 - 7 p.m.

She was born March 13, 1942 in Croghan, NY the daughter of the late Kenneth F. and Mildred M. Aucter Simmons. She graduated in 1960 from Immaculate Heart Academy, now IHC. Midge married David R. Jones on December 10, 1960 at Holy Family Church in Watertown. Mr. Jones died December 9, 2001.

Mrs. Jones worked for the New York State Department of Transportation in Watertown for more than 39 years. She retired in 1999 as a right of way agent. After retirement, she worked as a licensed real estate appraiser, the US Census and as an election official. She was a member of St. Cecilia’s Church in Adams. She enjoyed flower gardening, taking long walks, traveling, reading, the NY Yankees, and spending time with her family and friends. Midge had a wonderful sense of humor and was well known for her love of dancing. It was very common for dance floors to clear so all could enjoy watching her and Dave do the jitterbug.

Surviving are a daughter and her husband, Mrs. Thomas (Lisa) Kerber of Adams Center and a son and his wife David and Kelly Jones of Lexington, SC, and four grandchildren Nicholas and Matthew Kerber of Adams Center and Joseph and Elizabeth Jones of Lexington, SC, also many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Jones is pre-deceased by a daughter, Laurie Anne Williams in 2010, a grandson Connor David Jones in 2015, two brothers Edwin and Kenneth Simmons, and three sisters Carolyn Petrie, Lucille Davis, and Majorie Abare.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham Street, Watertown, NY 13601.
