Inge Barbara Saur died June 19, 2017 at her home in Columbia, South Carolina in the presence of her family. Mrs. Saur was born in Aschaffenburg, Germany daughter of Ferdinand and Johanna Singer. She attended the Handelschule in Germany until she married CSM Frederick Saur on February 5, 1953 in Germany. He died August 2004. The couple traveled extensively during his 28 year Army career. She wasa homemaker and the quintessential Army “Spouse”, who took the job of supporting her husband’s career very seriously. She received several compliments from his Soldiers and Commanders. The one she treasured the most was from the Enlisted men of HQ Battery 23rd Artillery Group, who commended her with a 105 Artillery Shell Flower Vase inscribed “To Mrs. Frederick Saur, Who Did The Hardest Part Waiting”, November 1966 to November 1967. Not only did she get a souvenir from Vietnam, but a flower vase to hold the gladiolas that he grew for her in their garden. She was a loving mother to Peter and Mary-Ellen Saur. She was an awesome grandmother to Jennifer Millet, Sean Saur, and Katrina Morrell and great-grandmother to Amara Patricia, Khloe Rose, Mia Capri, and Kynzlee Rose all of whom she loved very, very much.After retiring they settled in Brownville where she was a Communicant of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was a member of the German American Club, and Ladies Auxiliary Barben-Jones V.F.W. Post 1400, Watertown. She enjoyed gardening, listening to Classical and German Music, helping others where ever she was needed, having “Coffee Clutch” with family and friends, and most importantly Tea Parties with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by a son Peter and his wife Mary-Ellen of Columbia, South Carolina, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. She is also survived by a loving sister, Maria Koch and niece and nephew Gabby and Hans Daub in Germany.
A funeral mass will be held Monday 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church of Brownville.
Calling will be at Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter, NY on Sunday June 25, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Burial will be Monday, June 26, 2017 at the Brownville Cemetery, Brownville, NY.
