Waddington: Joseph I. LaDue Jr., 78 of Maple St. passed away on June 29, 2017 at the Riverledge United Helpers. Friends and family may be received on Sunday July 2, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at Phillips Memorial Home in Waddington. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Church in Waddington. Interment will be held in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Louisville.
Joseph was born on November 2, 1938 in Raymondville, the son of Joseph and Janette (Eurto) LaDue. His first marriage ended in divorce, he then married Carolyn Downing Sovie. Joe, known to many as “Shaky”, retired from GM Powertrain in 2000 after 30 years. He loved carpentry work and was employed by Danko Construction for a period of time. Joe was loved by all and was a great conversationalist.
Joe is survived by his wife Carolyn of Waddington; his children, Trudy and William Murphy of Victor, NY, Joseph III and Diane LaDue of Tupper Lake, Keith and Marilyn LaDue, Loni and Wendy LaDue and Travis LaDue all of Norfolk, Preston LaDue of OR, Aaron and Anne LaDue of Massena; three stepchildren, Teresa and Curt Dishaw, Christopher and Laura Sovie both of Ogdensburg and Jeffrey Sovie of Canton; eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren; seven step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren.
Also surviving Joseph are three brothers, Edward and Pat LaDue of Hamlin, NY, Angus and Meg LaDue of Norfolk and Charles “Chipper” and Marilyn LaDue of Norfolk; a sister, Josephine Paige of Colton and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by two sons, Raymond and Shawn LaDue; three sisters, Ellen Tracey, Margaret Simmons and Ella Simmons and a brother Albert LaDue.
