Norman Priestley

Norman “Hector” Priestley, 81, formerly of Black River passed away Friday, July 14th at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home where he had been a resident.

Per his wishes, there will be no services. He will be cremated. Arrangements are with the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Watertown.

He is survived by his wife June, Black River; a son Mark (Rebbecca) Priestley, Evans Mills; a grandson Steven (Jessica) Priestley and their children, Aimee and Ella, all of Philadelphia. A grandson Scott Priestley predeceased him in 1999.

Norman was born August 18, 1935 in Providence, RI, a son to Hector and Gladys Whiteley Priestley. He was a truck driver and mechanic for Ted Wrights Rubbish Removal and a heavy equipment operator at the George Sherman Gravel Pit, both in Rhode Island. Norman also did Lobstering when he lived in Rhode Island as well as small engine repairs at his home as a side business. He moved to the north country in 1985 to be near his son and grandchildren and worked as a heavy equipment operator for Champion Sand and Gravel for several years.

Norman married June Sylvia in 1978. A previous marriage to Marjorie Adams ended in divorce.

He enjoyed reading and putting model toys together.
