LOWVILLE - Craig A. Finehout, son of the late Clifford and Kathryn (Bass) Finehout, died on July 23, 2017, after a long and valiant struggle against a determined disease. Craig was born in Alexandria Bay on November 23, 1947. He grew up in Collins Landing, graduating from LaFargeville Central School in 1966.

He joined the U.S. Naval Reserves graduated from the Great Lakes Training Center, serving for one year. He then joined the Army, serving for two years, including a tour in Viet Nam. He was a proud veteran and Life Time Member of the Lowville VFW Post 6912.

After leaving military service, he settled in the Lowville area where he lived until his death. He was for many years a self-employed General Contractor, handling all phases of construction. He built many new homes and remodeled existing structures throughout Lewis and Jefferson County. Craig was a very artistic and talented woodworker, specializing in fine quality cabinetry and, in response to customer requests, created custom woodwork in the homes he built and remodeled.

Craig was predeceased by his life partner, Dorothy Everson. He is survived by two daughters: Ellie Mockbee of Lowville and Tera Brockway (Mike) of Enid, OK; a step-daughter Tina (Everson) Harold and husband Chris of New Bremen; six grandchildren: Joseph, Clifford and Alexandria Mockbee, all of Rochester; Hunter and Eboni Finehout of Enid, OK; and Nickolas Fayle of New Bremen; two sisters, Rhonda of Ballston Spa, NY and Claudia of Orlando, FL; and one brother, Russell of Clayton.

Craig enjoyed woodworking and most especially enjoyed the company of his family and friends. He lived life well and we will remember his sense of humor and how easily he could make us laugh when we least expected it.

Friends are invited to join the family for a celebration of Craig’s life on August 12th, at the Lowville Post, 7752 W. State Street, Lowville, starting at 1:00 P.M. Arrangements are with the Sundquist Funeral Home.
