pBRANTINGHAM – Rita A. Schmitt, 56, of Van Arnam Road, passed away early Monday morning, March 14, 2016 at her home./ppThe funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville, with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman officiating. Burial will be held privately, and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society (for pancreatic cancer research), P.O. Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057; or Lewis County Humane Society, P.O. Box 682, Lowville, NY 13367. /ppShe is survived by her spouse and friend of 31 years, Cindy; her mother, Patricia E. Watson of Glenfield; her father, Charles W. Watson of Boonville; her siblings, Robert and Kristen Watson of Glenfield; Ronald W. Watson and his companion, Charlene “Charlie” Berrus of Lowville; Gail M. Watson of Turin; Rick and Kathy Watson of Brantingham; several aunts and uncles, as well as nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews she considered “her kids”; cousins and a very special “daughter” Marie, and “grandson”, Jacob, who lovingly called Rita his “GPU”/ppRita was born on November 5, 1959 in Lowville, NY, a daughter of Charles W. Watson and Patricia E. Levesque Watson. She graduated from South Lewis Central School in 1977, attending the Howard G. Sackett Technical Center, Glenfield for Food Preparation. Rita worked for Lally Manufacturing in Port Leyden, Law Brothers in Lyons Falls, and operated a dairy farm on the Flat Rock Road. Together with her spouse, she owned and operated CJ’s Diner for nine years, while serving as the Brantingham Post Mistress. Rita worked at Dolhof True Value in Lyons Falls, and most recently worked as a seamstress at Ol’ Glory Alterations on Fort Drum./ppRita enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hiking, kayaking, and cooking. She loved animals, especially her current dog, Lady Bug. Rita had a smile that was contagious. She was selfless, and touched the lives of so many.
