Funeral services Wilber “Al” Allen Brossoit, age 82, of Ogdensburg, will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at 11:00AM at Frary Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Nichols officiating. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Frary Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will also be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Camp Stiles in Rensselaer Falls, NY at 3:00PM. Mr. Brossoit passed away on Friday night, August 11, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, NY surrounded by his loving family.

Al is survived by his children’s mother, Kathaleen; his companion, JoAnne Holmberg of Ogdensburg and her children; his children, Barbara Stiles and her husband, Ronald, of Rensselaer Falls, NY, Bonnie Herman and her husband, Michael, of Watertown, NY, Lee Brossoit and his wife, Pamela, of Salem, MA, David Brossoit and his wife, Sylvia, of Los Alamitos, CA, JoAnne Brossoit of Lockport, NY and Michael Brossoit of Heuvelton, NY; his brother, Mel Brossoit and his wife, Judy, of Silver Springs, FL; fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He is predeceased by one sister, Mary Brossoit, in infancy and his mother and father, Henry and Sarah Brossoit. Al was born on September 29, 1934, in Oswegatchie, NY, the son of Henry and Sarah LaRue Brossoit. He attended local schools. Al served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict and the Korean War. He was honorably discharged and retired with twenty years of service at the rank of Staff Sergeant. After retiring from his service with the Air Force, Mr. Brossoit first worked for Brown’s Dodge as a Parts Manager for a few years and then later worked for Corning, Inc. in Canton for twenty-two years.

Al enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing, traveling and riding his motorcycle. He was a picker and tinkerer and also enjoyed rebuilding. Al received many awards for Square Dancing. Mr. Brossoit held memberships at the AMVETS in Ogdensburg, NY, American Legion in Port Orange, Elks Club in Ogdensburg and Port Orange, War Birds of America, VFW in Ogdensburg and the Moose Lodge in Ogdensburg.
