pNILES, NY – Barbara J. Vargason, 76, of Niles, NY, passed away peacefully at the Commons on St. Anthony, Sunday, March 6, 2016 after a brief illness. She was born in Watertown, NY, the daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy Cheal Mason./ppShe was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and to her family at the United Church of Auburn where she had been the organist for 25 plus years. She had also been a volunteer for Hospice of the Finger Lakes./ppShe is survived by her children, Yvonne (Daniel) Matijas, of Weedsport, Vance (Laurel) Vargason, of Moravia, Kathleen (Eric) Nordby, of Syracuse, Patrick (Patty) Vargason, of Auburn, Nancy O’Dell, of Pattersonville, and Sara (Daniel) Hubbard, of Seneca Falls; two sisters, Betty Reed, of Cape Vincent, and Nancy Wiseman, of Chaumont; one brother, Paul Mason of Annapolis, MD; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews./ppA memorial celebration of her life will be held in the United Church of Auburn at the convenience of the family. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Skaneateles. /ppIn lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 1130 Corporate Drive, Auburn, NY 13021./p
