Paul M. Bourcy , 92 of Three Mile Bay, NY passed away Friday evening at Samaritan Keep Home where he had been a patient two days.
Paul was born November 26, 1924 in Cape Vincent, NY, son of the late Alfred P. and Emma Docteur Bourcy. He graduated from Cape Vincent High School in 1942.
Enlisted in the Army in 1943. Took basic training at Camp Wheeler, Georgia and was assigned to the 85th Infantry Division in Italy. On August 24, 1944 he was injured and hospitalized for 3 months. He returned to the States where he was hospitalized and additional 4 months; returning to limited duty. He was discharged in 1946 from Camp Atterberry, Indiana.
He married Marilyn N. Bongard, daughter of the late Kenneth and Mary Mepham Bongard on November 30, 1946 at St. Vincent DePaul Church , Rosiere, NY.
He was a DHIA Milk Tester Supervisor for 6 years. Supervisor of the Town of Lyme from 1956-1968. Owner of Bourcy’s Marina and Mobile Home Park, Three Mile Bay and owner of Bourcys’ Sand and Gravel. He was appointed to the Thousand Island Park Commission by the Gov. Hugh Carey in 1979. He was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans Co. #18 and the Cape Vincent Legion Post 832 for 68 years. Past Chief of Three Mile Bay Fire Co. and past president of Jefferson County Fireman’s Association.
While serving with the 85th Infantry Division he received numerous medals, including the combat infantry badge.
Surviving besides his wife Marilyn is a son Terry Bourcy of Daytona Florida and a daughter Dianne Bourcy of Watertown, a step grandson Scott Robidoux, step granddaughter Rhiannon Robidoux and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter-in-law Suzanne Robidoux Bourcy (wife of Terry), a grandson Shawn Smith Bourcy, step-grands Michael and Lynne Robidoux,a sister Eleanor and two brothers Kenneth and Donald Bourcy.
The body will be cremated. Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. A graveside service with military honors will be held at a later date to be announced. There are no calling hours.
