Maurice L. Coutermarsh, formerly of Carthage, NY passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017 in Katy, Texas.
He was born May 31, 1932 to Lester and Julia Coutermarsh near Nashua, NH.
Maurice joined the US Army in June 1949, serving in Korea from July, 1950 to May 31, 1951. He received Honorable Discharge from the Army on August 22, 1952. He joined the US Army Reserve in 1953 and in November, 1955 transferred to the 127th Heavy Equipment Maintenance Co. New York National Guard, where he served for more than 36 years. He worked for many years at the former Crown Zellerbach Corp. in Carthage before going to work as a full-time technician for the US Army National Guard at Fort Drum. He retired as a Technician in 1990 and moved to Punta Gorda, Florida with his beloved wife, Marie.
Maurice “Cootie” enjoyed shuffleboard and visiting with friends. He honorably served his country for more than 41 years and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Maurice is survived by a son, Greg Coutermarsh; daughters, Raechel Pitts and Lisa Hall; son, Scott Coutermarsh; step-daughters, Lauralee Passage and Lisa Henry; step-son, Guy Gladle; brothers, Leo, Joe, Lou; and sisters, Irene and Cecile.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Marie; son, Jeff Coutermarsh; and brother, Richard.
Services will be held at River Haven Mobile Home Park in Punta Gorda, Florida at a later date.
