Donna D. Olig

Donna D. Olig, 90, Watertown, died Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Samaritan Summit Village.

Mrs. Olig was born August 14, 1927 in Tupper Lake, NY, daughter of Daniel and Ruth Guernsey Donovan of St. Regis Falls. As a young person she moved to Watertown to live with her aunt and uncle. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1944, attended Watertown School of Commerce, night classes at Jefferson Community College and courses at the American Institute of Banking (AIB),which now is a part of American Banking Association Training. A marriage to Lawrence Olig ended in divorce.

Mrs. Olig was employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Watertown and Albany, Marine Midland Trust Company of Northern New York and Tropical Chevrolet, Inc. in Miami FL. Mrs. Olig began her career at Key Bank in 1957 and in 1959 joined the trust department, then named, the National Bank of Northern New York. In 1969, Mrs. Olig was promoted to administrative assistant, in 1979 was appointed as an assistant trust officer and retired in 1988 as a trust officer from Key Bank of Northern New York.

Mrs. Olig was a former board member of Mercy of Northern New York and the Watertown Sportsman’s Club. She participated in fund raising for WNPE – WNPI, volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the YWCA craft store, and was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club. Mrs Olig loved to travel she especially enjoyed London, Paris and Italy.

Surviving is a son Mark and his wife Tina Foti, Watertown and her cat Ali. A brother Daniel Donovan died in 2014.

There are no calling hours. There will be a graveside service Monday, September 11, 2017, at 2pm at St Ann’s Cemetery in St. Regis Falls, NY with Reverend Alfred H. Fish officiating. Arrangements are with D.L, Calarco Funeral Home, Inc.

A special thanks to the staff on the 2nd floor south skilled nursing at the summit for all the love and care that Donna received.
