pDEFERIET – Stephen Joseph Marek, 63, 35381 NYS Route 3, died at home on Saturday morning, January 23, 2016 after a long battle with cancer./ppBorn in Ogdensburg on February 2, 1952, the son of Fred & Mary Bergeron Marek. He served in the United States Army for a short time. He married Cheryl Gokey in November, 1971. Mrs. Marek died on January 27, 1997. He worked for many years as an electrician for Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 673 in Black River. He loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing and gardening is where he felt at home./ppStephen is survived by his parents, Fred and Mary Marek, his son and daughter in law, Joseph and Amanda Marek, Natural Bridge, his grandson, Chase Marek and his granddaughter, Crystal O’Donnell. Also surviving is his brother, Mike Marek along with his extended family./ppA memorial gathering and celebration of his life will be held from 3:00 - 6:00 PM on Thursday, January 28th at the American Legion Post #789, West St., Carthage. Burial will be in Black River Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage.
