Irene Hunt

pIrene Hunt passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, April 11, 2016, under the care of her loving family. She was 85 years old./ppBorn in Watertown on September 25, 1930, the daughter of Edward Byron and Florence Hawley Ring. Irene had a zest for life. /ppShe married Donald “Moe” Hunt on September 12, 1959 at the East Side Church at Reverend Henry’s house and they embraced their union of 57 years until her passing. /ppIrene worked as a seamstress in her younger years at the Olga Knitting Mill. In 1963, She and her husband, Donald, opened a business out of their home known as Hunt’s Dive Shop and later expanded this business as Hunt Underwater Specialties to the Thousand Islands region having shops in Clayton and Alexandria Bay. This business was Irene’s passion and she loved spending her time at the shop in Clayton. /ppSurviving besides her husband, Donald are her 5 children: Cindy Walts, Watertown; Robin Thorne and her spouse, David Thorne, Sandy Creek; April Hunt, Watertown; Khristy Hunt, Watertown; and Khris Hunt and his spouse, Mary Hunt. Irene is also survived by her 8 grandchildren: Nicholas Walts and Andrew Walts, Dana Hunt, and his wife, Charlotte, Kaylee Hunt, Kaitlin Hunt, Kelsey Hunt, Kassidy Hunt and Konnor Hunt, a great granddaughter, Sara Hunt, a sister and brother-in-law, Bernice “Beanie” Jones and Edward “Dudley” Jones. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews./ppShe was predeceased by Blanche Ring, William Ring, Edward Ring, Jr., Donald Ring, Roy Ring, Mildred Ring, Eleanor Ring, Dorothy “Dot” Ring, Beverly Peterson, Nelson and Joseph Ring./ppThe family will receive friends on Thursday, April 14th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Reed and Benoit Funeral Home. A funeral will be held on Friday, April 15th at 11:00 a.m. at the Reed and Benoit Funeral home with Reverend Darryl Clark officiating. Burial will follow in North Watertown Cemetery./ppThe family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of Jefferson County for the care and direction given to their mother during her final days and also to Debbie Powell for her help to the family throughout Irene’s illness./ppMemorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, the SPCA or to the Salvation Army. /ppOnline condolences may be made at www.reedbenoit.com /p
