pWATERTOWN- Frederic Raymond Sawyer, 78, passed away on Friday January 22, 2016, at Samaritan Summit Village. He had been in failing health for the past few years. /ppArrangements have been entrusted with Cleveland Funeral Home. /ppBorn in Watertown on August 8, 1937, Fred was the first-born son of prominent dairy family, Raymond and Effie Brown Sawyer of Burrville. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1955, and attended Cornell University. In 1956, Fred entered the U.S. Army Reserves, serving at Fort Knox in Kentucky and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He continued reserve training for two weeks in the summer and one night a week for the next six years./ppIn 1969, Fred bought one of his father’s farms in Burrville and became active in many farm related activities as a member of the Farm Bureau and Holstein Friesian Club Association. He was never married. /ppFred was a member of the Burrville Congregational Church./ppFred is survived by his brother, Donald H. (Kayrena) Sawyer of Burrville and his sister, Nancy R. (Ronald) Stay of Rochester; his many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. /ppBurial will be at the convenience of the family at the Brookside Cemetery.
