Clifford W. Davison died peacefully at home, Thursday morning December 20th, surrounded by his loving family under the care of Hospice.
Born May 24th, 1935 the son of the late Clinton and Marjorie Bacon Davison. He attended Harrisville Central School, where he played basketball, baseball, football, and was a member of the marching band. He pitched for the Harrisville baseball town team. He joined the Navy in 1954 and received an Honorable Discharge in 1958. He was on the battleship USS Iowa (BB-61) during the Korean War. On October 9th, 1954 he married his sweetheart Mabel Allen of Edwards at the US Naval Chapel in Bainbridge, Maryland.
He was a communicant of the Sacred Heart Church in Edwards where he held his faith dear to his heart. He enjoyed trapping, fishing, and hunting with his children. He also enjoyed Gold Prospecting, making his homemade Wine that was passed down from his father, gardening, shooting bow and arrow, and bowling.
He worked at the Newton Falls Paper Mill and was a television repair man. He also worked at the Edwards Central School where he enjoyed volunteering to help coach the boys’ basketball team. He coached the Harrisville men’s basketball town team. He was also a boy scout leader. He enjoyed the time he spent at the Lewis County General Hospital’s adult center and also volunteering at the New Bremen Opportunity Knocks thrift store.
He is survived by 9 of his 11 children – Jeff Davison Fowler, NY, Clifford and Angelene Davison Summerville, SC, Sheree and Dr. Manoj Vora Lowville, NY, Linda and Jeff Hill Fowler, NY, Shelly and Jeff Clemens Colorado Springs, CO, Vernon Davison and fiancé Kate Harmer Edwards, NY, Billy and Sandra Davison Edwards, NY, Bryan Davison Tupper Lake, NY, Mabel and Greg Peabody Oswegatchie, NY, a brother Jack Davison Minnesota, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Mabel Davison, two sons Robbie and Ken, a great grandson Markell, a brother Robert, and a sister Delight.
Friends may call at the French Funeral Home, Edwards, on Friday, 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM at the St. Francis Solanus Church in Harrisville with the burial following at the Fairview Cemetery in Edwards.
Donations may be made to the St. Lawrence Valley Hospice and Palliative Care Program.
