WATERTOWN-Katherine M. Buchal, 87, passed away on Friday March 15th, 2019. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home, Watertown.
Katherine was born on April 11th, 1931 in Theresa, NY to the late Leo McKeever and Erma Swartout McKeever.
In 1952 Katherine married Edward Buchal. Edward passed in 1985.
Katherine attended and graduated from Cape Vincent Central School in 1948 before attending Watertown school of commerce where she graduated in 1949. Katherine worked at Agricultural Insurance Company in Watertown from 1949-1953, before working in the Watertown School District as a secretary for 20 years, retiring in 1990.
Katherine volunteered for the Office of the Aging, and the Sisters of St. Joseph. She also attended St. Patrick’s church in Watertown. Her hobbies included sewing, reading, crossword puzzles, and traveling.
Katherine is survived by two sons, Thomas (Mary) Buchal, Moravia, NY, and Timothy (Dawn) Buchal, Poughkeepsie, NY, a daughter Leisa (Raphael “Buzz”) Mangino, St. Johns, FL. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Timothy Buchal, Shannon Buchal, Rebecca (Caleb) Wagner, and Anthony Mangino, and two great-grandchildren: Avery Katherine and Maddyx Adeline.
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, a brother James, and two sisters, Anne Devlen, and Karen Lawton.
A memorial service and burial will take place at a later date.
