pMassena: A Mass of Christian Burial for Evas C. Talarico 99, formerly of Sharon Dr., Massena, NY will be held 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at St. Mary’s Church in Massena with Rev. Mark Reilly officiating. Burial will be held immediately following at Calvary Cemetery in Massena. Family and friends are welcome to call from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena. /ppMrs. Talarico passed away at the Maplewood United Helpers Home in Canton, NY on Saturday, April 30, 2016 where she received very loving care for the last three years. Evas was born on September 8, 1916 to Julian and Alice (Lussier) Guthrie in St. Regis Falls, NY. She attended schools in St. Regis Falls and married Joseph Talarico on December 15, 1934 at St. Anne’s Church in St. Regis Falls. Mr. Talarico passed on March 7, 1960 shortly after celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. She then began her 30 year long work career while raising her family. She first worked at JC Penney’s on Main Street in Massena. She was the credit interviewer for the first credit card plan inaugurated in all of the JC Penney’s stores. She then joined the Boston Store when it first arrived at the Harte Haven Plaza. Employment at Westons and Jamesway followed. She retired at the age of 74 in 1990. She was a member of the LCBA at St. Mary’s while being a lifelong communicant. She enjoyed her working years in retail, and spending time with her family was the most important part of her life; especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. /ppShe is survived by her loving children, James (Mary Ellen) of Waddington, David (Mary Ellen) of Massena, Mary Cotter of Norwood and her sister, Rose Alma Bourdon of Massena. She is also survived by her 8 very much loved grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph, her brothers, Eugene, Lawrence and Stavro Guthrie and sisters, Mary Dora Patton, Florilda Kellison, Mary Louise Shantie and son in-law David Cotter. /ppMemorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
