pMonroe, NC- Sondra Sue “Sonnie” Scott, 78, of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016. She was born November 8, 1937, in Lawrence, Kansas, to the late Max Edward and Mary Virginia Reeves. Sonnie was a 1955 graduate of Hoover High School in San Diego, CA and attended San Diego State University, where she met her future husband, Charlie Scott./ppThroughout their marriage, they lived in several cities around the country where Mrs. Scott was active vocationally and voluntarily; she was a Case Worker for the county of San Diego while living in California, Executive Secretary to the Worldwide Marketing Director for Norgren in Denver, Colorado, Receptionist for a dental practice in Phoenix, Arizona, and retired as an Executive Secretary with INTEL Corporation. Sonnie was an avid traveler, traveling the world with her husband and their travel groups; such as the “Friends Against Rough Times”, in San Diego and Phoenix. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Monroe, NC, where she was active with the Presbyterian Women and Koinoia; and was a former member of First Presbyterian Church in Watertown, NY. She was also a member of P.E.O-Chapter AF/NC and P.E.O. Chapter AI/NY. Mrs. Scott was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta-Chi Theta Chapter and was active with Rainbow Girls while in San Diego./ppShe and her husband, Charlie, who survives, were married August 3, 1957. They have three children Shari Scott, Rob Scott (deceased) and Steve Scott; 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother, William Reeves. /ppA memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church, Monroe, NC.
