pCROGHAN - Mary Ann Ritz, 87, died late Sunday afternoon, May 22, 2016 at Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare in New Hartford./ppMary Ann was born on September 11, 1928, in the town of New Bremen, the daughter of the late Chester C. and Pearl L. (Lomber) Turck. She attended Fr. Leo Memorial School. On September 20, 1947, she was united in marriage to Gerald M. Ritz at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church with Rev. Hugh King OFM, officiating. The couple made their home in Croghan and Mary Ann worked in the cafeteria at Beaver River Central School. /ppShe was an auxiliary member of Beaver River Memorial Post # 1663, American Legion, and Lewis County Memorial Post # 6912, V.F.W. Mary Ann was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, a great homemaker and enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and going to the Turning Stone Casino./ppShe is survived by her husband, Jerry, her daughter, Bonnie S. Ritz; two sons, Daniel G. Ritz; and Larry J. and Kim Ritz all of Croghan; her grandson, David W. Ritz; her sister, Rose Marie Bruce of Croghan; sisters-in-law, Margaret, Evelyn and Elaine Turck; Edna and Jo Ritz; several nieces and nephews. /ppShe is predeceased by her son David G. who died serving in Vietnam; her sister Theresa who died in infancy, eight brothers, Bernard (Nellie), Edward, Richard (Emma), Donald, Arthur, Robert (Joyce), Ralph, and James (Tammy) Turck; brother-in-law, Earl Robert Bruce; brothers-in-law, Carl and Robert Ritz and sister-in-law, Lucille (Clifford) Chartrand./ppMary Ann was a communicant of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church where a mass will be said on Thursday, May 26th at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Daniel Chapin, pastor officiating. Interment will be in the St. Stephen’s Cemetery. /ppPer Mary Ann’s wishes, calling hours will not be observed; memorials in her name may be made to: Croghan Fire Department, P.O.
