Norval married Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Kelley on November 15, 1947 at St. Patrick Church with Fr. John Cotter performing the wedding ceremony. They shared a blessed and a one-of-kind union for 35 years. Betty passed away on May 4, 1983; and they reunited on the same day 34 years later.

He had a love of life, a love for being outdoors and in earlier years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. More recently Norval spent his time ‘landscaping’ on the lawnmower or waving to friends as they passed by from his favorite vantage point, also known as his chair in his driveway.

He had a true passion for gardening and Norval’s vegetable garden was almost as famous as he was. Early mornings, countless hours, and a whole lot of love was planted in that garden every spring for many years. He made hard work look effortless as his garden appeared pristine and he always harvested more than enough produce; “it was enough to feed the town.”
