Betty A. Bacon, 71, of Co. Rt. 30, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, NY.
Born on June 24, 1946 in Theresa, NY, she was a daughter of Gary and Eva Coolidge Bartlett and she graduated from Indian River Central School in 1965.
Betty married Frederick Bacon and he died March 13, 2017.
She was a bartender for various establishments over the years and was part owner of the Longbranch, Great Bend, NY.
Betty has enjoyed hunting and fishing since she was a young girl.
Survivors include three children; daughter and son-in-law, Tracie and Richard Caplicki, Calcium, NY, son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Sarah Bartlett, Redwood, NY, son, Gary F. Bacon, Philadelphia, NY; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sally VanTassel, Theresa, NY and Marilyn Bartlett, Hermon, NY; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her parents, her husband and a sister, Grace Trapp died previously.
Memorial Services will be 7 pm Friday, September 29, 2017 at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa, NY with Rev. Chilton McPheeters of the Philadelphia United Methodist Church, officiating.
Calling hours will be 5-7 pm prior to the service.

NORFOLK—Funeral Services for 95 year old Leland V. “Lee” Emlaw, a resident of the Van Duyn Center in Syracuse and formerly of Crabb Street, Norfolk, will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Norfolk with Pastor Carl Chamberlin presiding. Burial will follow the services at Bixby Cemetery in Norfolk. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Mr. Emlaw passed away Tuesday at the Van Duyn Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Syracuse.
Lee is survived by his companion Betty Bombard, Norfolk; two sons, Ronald and Tina, Winthrop; Robert and Darlene, Norfolk; a daughter, Donna Emlaw, Norfolk; several beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Lee is also survived by his brother Harold Emlaw, Norfolk and his companion Florence Mousaw as well as several nieces and nephews. Lee was pre-deceased by his wife, Joyce on May 8, 1999 and a sister, Betty Emlaw.
Born in Norfolk, NY on August 7, 1922 to the late Vernon and Marion Hanley Emlaw, Lee graduated from High School and served in WW II with the U.S. Navy. Upon his return home from the service, Lee married Joyce Charity on opening day of hunting season in October of 1943. He worked at the Norfolk Paper Mill and ALCOA before attaining a position with General Motors in Massena, working in the casting house. He retired from General Motors in 1988. Lee was a member of the Norfolk American Legion #925 and a past member of the Norfolk Fire Department. Lee truly enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing and going to camp at the Beaver Pond Hunting Club in Santa Clara in which he was a member for over 50 years. Lyle F. Eveleigh
Lyle Fredrick Eveleigh passed away on September 16, 2017 at the age of 76.
A native of Dexter, NY, he attended General Brown High School. He served in the Army for 8 years, where he studied Electronics. After many years working for Emerson Electronics and James River, he formed his own company, MNE Enterprises. Lyle traveled the world as a trouble shooter for all types of industrial plants. He was well respected and had a great reputation in the industry where he became fondly known as the “The Drives Doctor.” Lyle enjoyed playing pool, singing karaoke and spending time with friends and family. Lyle lived in Orange, TX much of his adult life and moved to Wimberley, TX in 2005. Even at age 76, he never fully retired, as he loved to work and help others that shared his passion for electronic trouble shooting. Lyle adored Wimberley and was happy to call it home.
He is predeceased by his parents, Malcolm and Doris Eveleigh, and his sisters Mary and Kay.
He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife of 46 years Marilyn (Marti); his children, John, Suzanne, Sandra, Cindi, Shelia (Phillip), Nicole and Sharay; grandchildren, Oceana, Xenos, Ethan, Kaelyn and Draven, and his surviving siblings; Virgil, Robert (Bob), Angela (Anne), Richard, and Betty. Family and friends will forever remember his loving smile, big hugs and cherish their memories of him.

Nancy E. Cean, 81, formerly of Adams, passed on Tuesday morning September 26, 2017 at the Country Manor Nursing Home in Carthage, where she had resided since August 2005. Born April 17, 1936 in Minetto, NY, daughter of Franklin and Virginia (Shaner) Dobson, she graduated from Minetto High School, and later from Oswego State where she earned her Master’s Degree in Education. She taught 5th grade in the Adams Center Wilson Elementary School.
Nancy married Robert M. Cean of Adams on October 25, 1958 at Saint Mary’s Church in Oswego. The couple owned and operated the Village Studio in Adams, specializing in wedding photography and the restoration of antiques.
Mr. Cean died September 2, 2004.
Surviving are three sons, John Cean, Rochester, Michael Cean, Mannsville, Robert (Bruce) Cean, Adams; two grand-daughters Heather and Brittany Cean, two grandsons Jarrod and Zachary Cean; and one great grandson Owen Cean. She is predeceased by a brother F. Mitchell, who died in 2001.
Nancy was an antique enthusiast and especially enjoyed the process of bringing the beauty back into old furniture.

Alice A. Wilton
Alice A. Wilton, 81, of 994 Alexandria St., died Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the Carthage Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.
Alice was born on March 13, 1936 in West Carthage, the daughter of the late Robert and Carrie (Beck) Adner. She attended schools in Beaver Falls and was a graduate of Carthage High in 1953. She married Patrick A. Wilton on September 25, 1954 at St. Paul’s Church in Black River. Patrick a foreman for the New Jersey National Guard, died on April 18, 2014. Alice was a homemaker and did house sitting with the elderly for many years.
Alice was a member of St. James Church and the Carthage Area Hospital Auxiliary and was a past recipient of the “Volunteer of the Year”.
She is survived by one daughter: Mrs. Nicholas (Luanne) Cassoni of Carthage, three sons: Leonard Wilton of Volney, Robert (Lori) Wilton of Brooklet, GA and Mark Wilton of Calcium, 6 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren, two brothers: Robert G. Adner of Tonawanda and Andrew D. Adner of Deer River and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, Patrick A. Wilton, two infant sons, a brother, James Adner and three sisters, Grace Adams, Irene Bailargeon and Betty Taylor.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 29 at St. James Catholic Church in Carthage with the Rev. Donald A. Robinson, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Calling hours at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home will be on Thursday, September 28 from 4-7pm.

Terry worked as a laborer on various jobs, and retired from the Henrietta School District. He loved to play bass guitar, and go fishing and hunting. Paul attended Watertown City schools, graduating from Watertown High School in 1999. He then graduated from SUNY Oneonta in 2003 where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music. After college he worked for Jefferson Abstract in Watertown before going to work for his father at Ray’s Service Center for the past seven years. Paul enjoyed riding his motorcycle, watching NASCAR and participating in activities at the Watertown Sportsman Club. Music was his passion throughout his life music. He played his trumpet in band at school, guitar for his own enjoyment at home and in several bands with friends. Among his survivors are his mother, Aulean M. Luttmann, his father, Raymond E. Luttmann, and two sisters and their husbands, Maureen R. and James A. Newton, Sandra J. and Anthony Garcia, a niece, Taylor, two nephews, Joshua and Liam, maternal grandmother, Jean S. Denis Dugan
Denis Michael Dugan, age 62, passed away on September 26th, 2017. He was foremost a father and husband, all things took second place to his family who were his world. If you were blessed to have met him once you were forever a friend in his heart. Denis followed the union tradition of his father and grandfather and retired after 23 years working for the NYDOC. He was born and raised on Staten Island but spent the last 20 years in Greene Co NY. A lifelong Yankee fan, Denis had a mind for stats that even matched his quick wit. He was a lover of all humanity and was most at home listening to music and surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Denis Thomas and Frances Claire Dugan and his brother, Timothy Dugan. He is survived by his wife and partner of 45 years Sheila(nee Morris), his children Shanon Vollmer, Allisson Dugan, Denis Dugan and James Dugan, his son-in-law Justin Vollmer, 3 grandchildren Tomaisin, Freya, and Aleanor Vollmer, 2 sisters Beth McLean, and Joanne Pisani, and 1 aunt Mary Dugan. Arthur G. DeLine, Sr., 81, of Watertown passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at Samaritan Keep Home. A graveside service will be held at North Watertown Cemetery on Saturday, September 30, at 11AM. There will be no calling hours or funeral service and arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown.
Art was born in Watertown on December 6, 1935, son of Arthur G. and Florence Black DeLine and he was educated in local schools. On August 15, 1959 he married Sandra A. Waite at Hope Presbyterian Church and Mrs. DeLine died March 5, 1997.
For 14 years he was a truck driver for Pepsi. He retired as a Journeyman Core Bench Maker from NY Airbrake Foundry after 30 years of service to the company. Art also was a transport bus driver for Samaritan Keep Home and worked at Cape Vincent Fish Hatchery. He very much enjoyed tinkering and sitting on his front porch and in his yard, greeting family and friends with his beloved boxer, Bruno.
He is survived by his three children, Arthur G. DeLine, Jr. and long-time companion, Cindy A. Adams, Watertown, Laura J. Rego, Somerville, MA, and Timothy J. DeLine and wife, Toni R., Watertown; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two brothers, Darwin N. DeLine and wife, Jeanette, Denver, CO and Russell DeLine and wife, Bonnie, Evans Mills; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with his wife, Sandra, Art was predeceased by three brothers, Charles, Franklyn D., and Everett E. DeLine, and three sisters, Beverly LaClair, Alberta Westcott, and Rosemary Burnham.

Robert was the oldest of five children, two boys and three girls of John R. and Rosalie (King) Manning. He was very grateful to his parents for giving him life and then maki8ng that life better. He thanks his brothers and sisters for giving him such good, loving company. His mother, besides being a very dedicated and sacrificing mother and wife instilled in him a lifelong value to religion and education. His father, a carpenter, taught him a few skills and a love of the Adirondacks. This included fishing, hunting and enjoying the serenity of nature in the woods and or the waterways of the mountains. Among his happiest times as a boy were with the Boy Scouts of American where he achieved Eagle Scout and Ad Altare Dei religious award.
He graduated from Tupper Lake High School in 1954. He fellow students elected his as president of the senior class. They continued to inspire him the rest of his life. Following graduation he enrolled at Wadhams Hall Seminary in Ogdensburg and began studies for the priesthood. He completed his studies at Christ the King Seminary, St. Bonaventure, New York. In 1962, he was ordained as a Catholic Priest by Bishop James J. Navagh of Ogdensburg. He received a BA with a Major in Philosophy from St. Bonaventure University. Following ordination he served as Assistant Pastor at Notre Dame Church, in Ogdensburg, St. Mary’s Churches in Massena and Champlain and St. Joseph’s churches in Massena and Malone. In addition to pastoral duties he taught Latin, Social Studies and history at Holy Family High Schools in Massena and Champlain. He loved his students, whom have continued to be a pride and joy to him throughout his life. In 1966 he received a MS in secondary Social Studies Education from State University in Potsdam.
In 1972 the late Bishop Stanislaus J. Bryzana released him to join the US Navy. He served with the Third Marine Division in Olawana, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, SC, Naval Regional Medical Center, Charleston, SC, W.S. Naval Activity London England, Marine Corps Training Center Trinity Palms CA, US Coast Guard Governor Island, NY and the Naval Engineering Center Lake Hurst, NJ.
Thanks to his mother’s inspiration he saved every opportunity to advance his education. In 1978 he earned a MA in Human Relations and Management for Pepperdine University. In 1991 he received a Doctorate in Ministry from the Ecumenical Unions, South Bend, IN. He took several courses in priestly formation at Seton Hall University, Newark, NJ. Following his retirement from the Navy in 1992 he earned a MA in Spirituality form Duquesne University, Pittsburg, PA. Returning to the Diocese of Ogdensburg in 1993 he was assigned instructor then professor of history and theology at Wadhams Hall College in Ogdensburg, NY. In 1995 he resigned from the college. He requested and received a dispensation from my obligation form the priesthood from Pope John Paul II in 1996. He then married the most beautiful woman he ever saw, Mary White Rainville at St. Viator’s Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NV. Together they traveled extensively including Italy and the Holy Land. She continues to be beautiful and loveable to this very day.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Mary, and a step son Steven Rainville of Massena, he was predeceased by his parents, and two sisters, Carole and Frances. He is survived by a sister Barbara and Henry Crouse and brother Jerry and Linda Manning. He is grateful to his brothers and sisters for giving him such great loving company while he was growing up.
When Robert told his father that he intended to swim across the English Channel he said “You’re crazy”. When he told his mother his intentions she said, “You can do it”. As it turned out the feast of St. Bartholomew, August 24, 1984, they were both right. That year he won a trophy from the Channel Swimming Association for the longest swim that year from France to England, 18 hours, 15 minutes.
One of his greatest friends in life was Rosemary Franklin-George, a two time swimmer of the Channel. Rosemary was his selfless trainer and fantastic friend. Her help enabled him to make the swim. Robert would like to thank Rosemary and thanks to their dear friend, Monsour Badaive. Robert is grateful to so many people who enriched his life: Bishops Bazyome, Loverde and LaValley and countless priest. Mother Mary Eamon, Sister Mary Christine, the Brenon Sisters and the sisters of St. Joseph, who have been such wonderful and holy cheerleaders on his journey toward heaven. CASTORLAND – Francis C. “Frank” Farr, 72, of Van Amber Road, passed away Friday, September 29, 2017, at his home, after a long battle with cancer, under the care of his family and Lewis County Hospice.
Frank lived most of his life in Lowville, where he worked at AMF for nearly 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Bernie; five children, Tammy Michael; Tracy Farr; Charlie Farr; Scott Farr; and Tricia Shultz, and their spouses; 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends, and his step-father. He is predeceased by his mother, father, brother and sister.

Dan was born on February 25, 1932, in Potsdam, NY, to the late Richard Hayes and Sara McCarthy. A graduate of Potsdam Central High School, he attended Canton ATC before receiving his bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University. He later earned a master’s degree from St. Lawrence University. Dan served in the United States Army in 1955-56, and was a proud veteran. Dan was a history teacher at multiple high schools in New York State, the final one being Massena Central High School starting in the mid-1960s. In the early 1970s, Dan transitioned from teacher to guidance counselor at Massena Central, and worked in that position until his retirement in 1989. Dan married Sylvia “Sally” Doody on July 14, 1962, at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Silver Springs, NY.
Dan is survived by his wife, Sylvia Hayes of Baldwinsville, NY; children Michael J. (Cosette) Hayes of Baltimore, MD, Sara (John) Dalton of Canandaigua, NY, Sheila (Michael) Heaton of Baldwinsville, NY, and Susan (Mark) Penhollow of Baldwinsville, NY; 8 grandchildren Margaret and Patrick Dalton, Matthew, Madeleine and Emma Heaton, Joseph Hayes, and Nora and Owen Penhollow; a sister, Joyce DelBalzo, along with several nieces and nephews. John R. Siver
John R. Siver, 81, of Watertown passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on September 27, 2017 at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse after a long and courageous battle with ALS Born May 7, 1936 in Watertown, son of Harry J. and Anna O. Blake Siver, John graduated from General Brown High School in 1955 where he was the NYS Wrestling Champion 1954-1955. He also was a member of the Watertown Red and Black Football team.
He married Eleanor Barney on December 1, 1956 at Holy Family Church, which later ended in divorce.
Mr. Siver was employed by Borden Dairy Products, Prudential Ins. Co. and was a self-employed contractor and local business owner. He was honorably discharged from the Naval Reserves in 1962.
He enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing, collecting antiques and spending time with his large family Among his survivors are a daughter and son–in-law, Christine L. and Jeffrey A. Bohling, Sandy Creek, two sons and their wives, Tim J. and Mary A. Siver, Queensbury, NY, John R. Calling hours will be held Friday 10/6 from 4-7 PM at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown.
A Funeral Mass will be said Saturday 10/7 at 10:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church in Brownville. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
