CARTHAGE — John Garfield “Gary” Downing, 72, of South Mechanic St., died early Saturday morning, December 16, 2017 at home, under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.

Gary was born on May 11, 1945 in Carthage, the son of John Leroy “Roy” and Irene Champion Downing. He was raised and loved by his mother and stepfather, Irene and George Buck Jr. He was employed at his stepfather’s blacktopping company. He also worked on a farm and sugar bush for Earl Zehr in Croghan.

He was an avid outdoorsman; he loved fishing and hunting.

Gary is survived by his sister, Marlene (Robert) Landes of Briarcliff Manor, New York; his brother, Gail (Sharon) Downing of Carthage; his sister, Linda (John) Moody, whom he lived with in Carthage; long-time friend, Spike Illingsworth of Carthage; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 5:00 -7:00 PM at Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. A memorial service will immediately follow in the Chapel at 7:00 PM. Spring burial will be held in Hillside Cemetery, West Carthage.

Virginia “Ginny” I. Berkey, 78, of Liberty Street, Adams, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday December 16, 2017. She had been under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County. A memorial service will be at 4:00 pm Saturday at the Adams Center Baptist Church, with Rich Hardy, pastor, officiating. Calling hours will precede the service beginning at 2:00 pm. Burial will be in the spring in the Rural Cemetery, Adams.

Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home, Inc., Adams.

Born April 17, 1939 in Watertown, NY, daughter of Forest “Bud” and Louise (Summers) Sprague, she graduated from Adams High School. She worked at the former Lally Corset Company, Adams, and Dairylea Cheese Factory, Adams.

She devoted her time to raising her children and was regarded as an awesome mom and grandmother.

On November 25, 1961, she married Charles William Berkey at the Adams United Methodist Church with Rev. Harold Barnard officiating. The couple lived in Adams all their married life. Mr. Berkey died July 4, 2007.

She is survived by two sons, Brian Berkey, Adams, Jeff (Donna) Berkey, Vermont; two daughters, Audrey (Timothy) Jerome, Adams Center, Louanne Valley (Chris Goetz), Adams; daughter in law Tina Berkey, Adams Center; four grandchildren, Heather (Joseph) Miner, Watertown, Brenna Berkey (companion William Gardner), Tennessee, Mike (Sara) Lillie, Dexter, Josh (Chelsea) Lillie, Henderson, several great grandchildren, and a brother Leslie (Paulette) Sprague, and her close friend Lillian McDermid Gilbert, Baldwinsville, NY.

She is predeceased by a son Russell W. Berkey who died November 18, 2009, a niece Elizabeth Sprague Buddehagen, two brothers in law, Robert and Thomas Berkey, a son in law, Ralph Valley and a sister Vaneeta Eager.

She was a member of the Adams Center Baptist Church and enjoyed Bible studies, crossword puzzles and keeping her daily journal.

Gerald “Dean” Outman, age 91 of Heuvelton passed away on Saturday evening Dec 16, 2017 at the St. Joseph’s Home surrounded by his loving family. Private graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery with Rev. Kevin O’Brien officiating.

Surviving are his children Ellen Outman of Watertown, Patricia Key & her husband Eric of Ogdensburg, Gina Outman & her husband Theron Aldrich; grandchildren Dean White, Amy Kaldor-Bull, Sarah White, Gary White Jr., Seadon White, Katie Aldrich & Maria Aldrich; great-grandchildren Garrison White, Gracie White, Lucy Kaldor-Bull, William Kaldor-Bull, Emelie Kaldor-Bull, Isaiah White, PJ White, Isaac White & Evie White; a son-in-law Gary White of Heuvelton along with many nieces & nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Jeanne on June 26, 2010; a daughter Myrna White on June 20, 2017 and two brothers Durwood & Donald Outman.

Dean was born on May 28, 1926 in the town of Macomb, a son of the late Archie & Pearl (Collins) Outman. He attended Pope Mills grade school, and graduated from Brier Hill High School, Valedictorian of the class of 1943. He then entered the US Navy during WWII earning his honorable discharge in 1946. He later married Jeanne Chambers on October 24, 1947 at the St. Raphael’s Rectory in Heuvelton.

During his career he worked at Alcoa for 5 years and transferred employment to General Motors in Massena where he worked as a maintenance welder for 28 ½ years until his retirement in 1987. Dean was a past member of the VFW in Ogdensburg and the American Legion in Heuvelton. He enjoyed furniture refinishing, fishing, gardening, hunting, watching sports, being outdoors and spending time with his family.

Leonard Stanley Ceglarski

Leonard Stanley Ceglarski Sr. passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017 in Plymouth, Massachusetts after a brief illness. Len was born on June 27, 1926 in Walpole, Massachusetts; he was the youngest of Stella and Anthony Ceglarski’s eight children. Len attended Boston College, where he was a member of the 1949 NCAA Championship hockey team. He earned All-American honors after the 1949-50 season. In the off-season, Len was an All-East second baseman for the BC baseball team. After his graduation in 1951, Len joined the United States Marine Corps. While serving in the Marines, he was named to the U.S. Olympic hockey team which won a silver medal at Oslo, Norway in 1952. In 1952, Len married Ursula Murphy at St. Theresa Church in Watertown, Massachusetts. Len taught and coached at Walpole High School before being named head hockey coach at Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York. In his fourteen seasons at Clarkson, he took his team to three National Championship games. In 1972, Len was named head hockey coach at his alma mater, Boston College, where he coached for twenty seasons. When he concluded his 34 year coaching career in 1992, he retired with the most victories ever amassed in the history of the game on the college level. Over the course of his career, Len received many honors and awards. He was inducted into The Massachusetts High School, Boston College, Clarkson University, US Hockey, and the National Polish-American Sports Halls of Fame, received the NHL’s Lester Patrick Award for outstanding service to hockey, and was awarded three Spencer Penrose Trophies given to the national coach of the year. Befitting his approach to the game, Hockey East established The Len Ceglarski Sportsmanship award in 1992. His integrity, humility, and desire for excellence, brought honor to the game of hockey and impacted the lives of countless players along the way. Above all, Len will be remembered as a role model and teacher, both on and off the ice. He enjoyed an active retirement in Duxbury, Massachusetts, and was devoted to his family. He took great pride in his six sons, and found immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his beloved wife of 65 years, Len is survived by his sons, Mark (Joanne) of Bristol, CT; Leonard Jr, (Catherine) of Byfield, MA; Paul (Eileen) of Darien, CT; Peter (Susan) of Westlake Village, CA; Michael (Julie) of Marian, NC; and Timothy (Gilson) of Quincy, MA; 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Tuesday, December 19th from 10 am - 1 pm at James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole, MA. A private memorial service will be held following the calling hours.

Evans Mills- Nicholas J. Hunt, 27, of 8424 South Main Street, died on Sunday, December 16, 2017 in Watertown, New York. He was born on January 14, 1990 in Anchorage, Alaska to Monica Clay & Kevin S. Hunt. He graduated High school from Indian River Central School, he then went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Suny Potsdam.

He was currently employed by the Retail chain Target in Watertown, New York as a Sales Associate.

He is survived by his mother, Monica & her husband George Stadalsk, Evans Mills; a brother, Patrick O’Connell, Lowville. His maternal grandparents, Michael & Ingrid Clay, Calcium.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at the Northridge Cremation Chapel owned and operated by Lundy Funeral Home, located at 31291 Town Line Road, Philadelphia, NY 13673 from 3:00pm-6:00pm. Burial will be held privately.

Roy E. Tanner, age 82, life resident of Pulaski, passed away Saturday at Oswego Hospital. Roy was born May 12, 1935 in Pulaski, the son of Herman and Dorothy Wilson Tanner. He graduated from Pulaski High School and served in the United States Air Force from 1954 until 1955. Roy married Esther Garrison on July 13, 1957. He was employed by Schoeller Technical Papers for 20 years, retiring in 1999. He was also employed by New Process Gear for 11 years. Roy also owned and operated a farm for many years. He was a member of the Park United Methodist Church in Pulaski and a former volunteer for NOCA.

Surviving are his wife Esther, one son, Raymond (Laurie) Tanner of Williamstown, three daughters, Robin (Mark) Trumble of Pulaski, Pamela Tanner of Undilla, and Nancy Tanner of Syracuse, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Roy was predeceased by his twin brother, Norman and his sister Constance Sagart.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, December 23rd at the Park United Methodist Church, 2 Hubble Street, Pulaski, NY with a spring burial in Pulaski Cemetery. No calling hours will be held. Arrangements by Foster- Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski, NY

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lila (Peggy), seven children: Martin, David, Kenneth, Lou Ann, Jean, Donald and Brian, 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Joseph M. Reff

Joseph M. Reff passed away at his home in the Town of Cape Vincent on Tuesday morning, December 12,

2017.

So that his family have time to gather, a calling hour will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Rosiere, from 9:30 - 10:30AM followed by the funeral mass celebrated at 11AM in the church. Burial will follow the mass in the parish’s cemetery.

Joe was born in the town of Cape Vincent on March 5, 1930, son of Neil and Muriel Mason Reff. He was a 1948 graduate of Cape Vincent Central School. On January 6, 1951 he married Jeanne Johndrow in St. James Church, Carthage with Fr. Dacey officiating. Mrs. Reff passed on July 24, 2017.

Joe was a dairy farmer for 25 years after his father passed away, at the home farm in the town of Cape Vincent. After his son Mike and grandsons Terry and Tim purchased the farm, he was employed for many years for Donald J. Wood Construction, and retired as Clerk of the Works for Two Plus Four Construction building senior citizen apartment complexes.

Joe was a life-long communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church and a 69 year, 3rd Degree member of Knights of Columbus, LeRay de Chaumont Council 2148, serving as Grand Knight twice. He served 8 years on the Cape Vincent Town Council, was the voting machine custodian for Cape Vincent for many years, served 14 years as a member of the Board of Directors for The Citizens Bank of Cape Vincent, and 6 years on the Thousand Islands Central School Board of Education. He was currently a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 832, the Community Advisory Board for Cape Vincent Correctional Facility, and the Cape Vincent Assessment Review Board.

With his wife, Jeanne, Joe was a member of the “Lunch Bunch”. They were volunteers for over 10 years at Samaritan Medical Center. He enjoyed carpentry, four-wheeling, and his cocktail hour with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. With his grandson, Jarrod, he donated materials and designed and built the winning Klondike Sled with Cape Vincent Boy Scout Troop 56. He was an life-long New York Yankees Baseball, Syracuse University Orange Basketball, and Green Bay Packers Football fan.

He is survived by his six children, Donald Potter, Hilton; Mike and Rose Reff, Cape Vincent; Jolene and Jarvis Radley, Cape Vincent; John Reff and his partner, Randy Breunig, Boulder, CO; Bill and Linda Reff, Peru, IL; and Sue-Ellen and Eric Thompson, Rush; fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; sister, Nora Hyde, Three Mile Bay and Pahrump, NV; brother-in-law, Paul Johndrow, Tewksbury, MA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with his wife, Jeanne, Joe was predeceased by two daughters-in-law, Marie Potter and Barbara Potter; three grandchildren who died in infancy, Donald Potter, Jr., Jeremy Radley, and Emily Reff; sister and her husband, Helen and Leo King; brother-in-law, Milford Hyde; brothers-and sisters-in-laws, Pauline Johndrow, Clarke and Pauline Johndrow; and Clarence and Gwendolyn Johndrow, Jr.

Ellis Murray Pike

Ellis Murray Pike , 79, of Potter Road, Canton, died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Maplewood Campus, where he had been a resident since December 2016.

There will not be any services at this time. Lawrence Funeral Home & Cremation Services has been entrusted with Ellis’ care and arrangements.

Ellis was born Aug 10, 1938, in Canton, NY, a son of the late Harvey K., Sr. & Florence B. (Parks) Pike. He was a 1957 graduate of Canton High School and Canton ATC in 1959, where he was a member of ZAP Fraternity House.

On July 15, 1961, he married Ruth Ann Aul in Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Fred W. House as celebrant.

Ellis was the owner of Pike’s Auto in Canton for many years and was known for his expertise in foreign vehicles. Previously he worked at the ESSO Station in Canton, ran Pike’s Chevron Station on Main Street, and Mostly Foreign on the Cowan Road.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Ann of Canton; a daughter, Kathy A. (Dan) Spaeth of Harrah, OK; two sons, Robert S. Pike and Richard E. Pike and companion Michelle Pharoah, all of Canton; a daughter-in-law, Susan Pike of Canton; three grandchildren, Hannah Rene’ Pike of Canton, Vanessa A. Spaeth and Jonathan Spaeth of Harrah, OK.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Harvey, Jr. and Jerry Pike.

Ellis enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and travel.

John P. McGreevy

John Patrick McGreevy, known as Pat in the Tri-Town community, died on Thursday morning, December 14, 2017, at home on the Bow Farm in Brasher Falls, NY.

Pat was born in Massena, NY, on May 11, 1936, to Dr. Philip T. and Ella S. McGreevy. He grew up on Bridges Avenue in Massena and graduated from Massena High School in 1954. Pat attended Harvard University and graduated from the University of Vermont. He later earned a Master’s in Education from St. Lawrence University in Canton.

Pat taught and coached at St. Lawrence Central High School over 4 decades. In his social studies classroom, Mr. McGreevy was known by all his students for his love for American history. On the playing fields he was called Coach. Throughout his career Pat coached 8th grade, JV, and varsity football, as well as Pop Warner football in the Massena league. He was also varsity golf coach in the 1970s. He enjoyed playing competitive golf and he also helped out with Little League baseball in Brasher. Pat was inducted in the St. Lawrence Central Athletic Hall of Fame.

Outside of the school community, Pat was busy on the family farm bringing in hay for the riding horses and his herd of beef cattle. He was well known for his big dogs and many cats on the farm. He competed in dog shows with his third Bouvier dog and earned a Canadian Kennel Club championship. He also owned and trained trotting horses with Bruce Euto in local races around the North Country and in Canada.

Toward the end of his teaching and coaching career, Pat was elected to the Brasher Town Board and did a lot of work trying to bring community electric power to the area. Through teaching, coaching, and community service, Pat was well known and respected by many in the Brasher Falls area. He loved to talk about anything with anyone at Edgar Kelly’s garage and Ward’s Hotel.

Pat is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sandra Bray of Massena, NY, two sons, Timothy and Matthew, and one grandchild, Molly Vivian, daughter of Matt and Liz. Pat’s third son Daniel died in November 1981 in Rochester, NY. Pat is also survived by his younger sister Betsy Ann McGreevy Scott of Port St. Lucie, FL, and was predeceased by his younger brother Philip T. McGreevy of Brasher Falls.

During the last 8 years of his life, Pat lived quietly at home, cared for by his wife Sandra, who was lately aided greatly by their good neighbor Raymond LaPrade and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley. A memorial service will be held at Hammill’s Funeral Home in Winthrop, NY, on Thursday, December 21. Calling hours will be from 1 to 4 PM, with a funeral service from 4 to 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to Northside Community Church of Massena and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley, Inc., of Potsdam, will be accepted.

Maxine Mary Countryman

Gouverneur – Maxine Mary Countryman, 68, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at her home under the care of her family and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 20th at 11:00 am at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur with Fr. Gregory Bailey, pastor of Trinity Episcopal Church officiating and spring burial in New St. James Cemetery, Gouverneur. Calling hours are on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

Maxine was born in Gouverneur on September 15, 1949, the daughter of Harold and Mary Hitchman Burns.

She graduated from Gouverneur High School and lived most of her life in the Gouverneur area.

Maxine and her husband owned and operated M & M Market on Hailesboro Street in Gouverneur. She enjoyed playing bingo, her dog Baby, socializing with friends and neighbors at Pine Grove Apartments, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was previously married to Mike Countryman.

Maxine is survived by her daughters Cassi Prashaw of Gouverneur, Cristi Bush of Harrisville, her grandchildren Ashley Lewis, Megan Prashaw, Karlie Gordon, Cameron Jefferson, Cramer Jefferson, and Alek Prashaw, her great grandchildren Maxwell, Peyson, Ezra, Sullie, Paxton, Alexianna, Oaklynn, and Angler. She is also survived by her sisters Bonnie Burns and Vickie Law, both of Gouverneur, nieces and nephews. Maxine is predeceased by her parents.

Laura B. Woodward Klochko (89) passed away on Monday October 9, 2017 at Sunrise on Old Meridian, Carmel, Indiana.

She was born June 29, 1928 in New Haven, New York to the late Florence and Roy Woodward.

She received her bachelors at State University of New York (SUNY) in Oswego where she met her husband George. Later in her life, she continued her education receiving a Masters in Special Education. Laura was a true educator and dedicated her life to teaching and supporting others in their pursuit of education. Her devotion and love for her family and friends was steadfast. Her passions included gardening, painting and reading.

She is survived by her daughters, Janet L. Kloehko and Deborah A. Kloehko (Gary Singer); step grandchildren, Tara (Brian) Stiver and Patrick (Renee) Myers and step great-grandchildren, Tyler and Hayley Myers and Joel, Luke and Andrew Stiver; her sisters, Fanny (Woodward) Yablonski and Elsie (Woodward) Dutcher. Laura was preceded in death by her husband, George M. Kloehko.

Memorial gifts can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Her ashes are interned at the White Haven Memorial in Pittsford, New York.

Judith M. Caster, age 79, resident of Sandy Creek, wife of Earl Caster, passed away Thursday, December 14th at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse. Her passing is attributed to cancer. Judy was born in 1938 to Leander and Marjorie Cressman of Pierrepont Manor.

Judy is survived by four children, Cheryl (Sprague) Hawkins of Lacona, Connie (Sprague) Sica of Scranton, PA, Cyrena (Sprague) McWilliams of Lacona, and Jered Sprague of Lacona, three sisters, Ruth, Joy and Greeta and two brothers Daniel and Timothy.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, December 17th at the Pulaski Wesleyan Church, 4591 US Route 11, Pulaski, NY, with a spring burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sandy Creek. Calling hours will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church prior to the funeral. A dinner reception will follow the service at the Wesleyan Church. David R. Pierce

Massena: David R. Pierce, 72, of North Raquette River Road, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at his home. There will be no public calling hours or funeral services.

David was born on December 24, 1944 in Nyack, New York, the son of Merrill W. and Lourene (Stiteler) Pierce. He graduated as Valedictorian of the class of 1963 from Madrid-Waddington Central School and attended Clarkson University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1967. While at Clarkson, he earned a Commission as 2nd Lieutenant through the ROTC program and served in the US Army Corp. of Engineers in Saudi Arabia for two years following graduation. He was honorably discharged as 1st Lieutenant June 17, 1969. He was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal.

David was currently employed with Alliance Energy Group as a Technician. In his early professional career David designed power plants, with a specialty in steam production. He was previously employed at Babcock & Wilcox in Ohio, and Stearns-Roger in Denver. He also operated a dairy farm in Lisbon, NY for 10 years following his engineering career. He enjoyed helping his companion with her horse farm, playing tennis in his youth, “Texas Holdem,” watching movies and was an avid reader and car enthusiast.

David is survived by his companion Anne Vinyard of Hermon, her son Cory, a sister in-law June Pierce of Poughkeepsie, NY, five brothers, Steve and wife Cindy Pierce of Adams Center, NY, Peter and wife Sue Pierce of Manchester, VT, Paul and wife Susan Pierce of Ogdensburg, NY, Alan and wife Kathryn Pierce of Syracuse, NY, Patrick and wife Cheryl Pierce of Queensbury, NY and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and two of his brothers, Bernard and William Pierce.

Margaret Dennee Crump

Margaret Dennee Crump, 84, formerly of Canton and North Syracuse, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, Dec 17, 2017 at Country Day Living in Constantia, NY.

Margaret was born August 25, 1933 in Heuvelton, NY, a daughter of the late Lewis & Alice Burnham Dennee. She graduated from DeKalb High School with a Regents Diploma in 1951.

On April 7, 1951, she married Erie Junior Crump at the Methodist Church in Ogdensburg. Although they were from St. Lawrence County, the couple spent the bulk of their lives in North Syracuse. They also owned a retirement home in Aiken, SC for 20 years where they enjoyed spending winters.

While working, Margaret was employed as an Information Operator for 23 years for NY Telephone Company in Syracuse and in the 1940’s she worked as a telephone operator in DeKalb Junction. She also worked part-time for Zaza’s Pizza in Canton.

Surviving are her beloved husband, Erie J. Crump of Constantia, NY; five daughters, Donna Crump of West Monroe, NY, Wanda (William) Lack of Walnut Grove, MS, Ann Crump of Hannibal, NY, Margaret L. (Todd) Taylor of Raleigh, NC and Charlene Redell of North Syracuse; one son, Lewis (Ila) Crump of West Monroe, NY; ten grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Verna (Paul) Howard of Malone, NY, Esther Stromer of Hermon, NY and Barbara Peterson of Rome, NY and Douglas Dennee of Elizabeth, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Howard Dennee and William Dennee, as well as, by her faithful companion “Rusty”.

Margaret was a member of the Pioneers Organization through the telephone company as well as an attendee of various United Methodist Churches.

Margaret had a ‘green-thumb’, she enjoyed many hours working in her flower beds, caring for her house plants and watching birds eat from her feeders. She also liked to bake homemade bread, and was an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction. She also did word search puzzles.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, Dec 21, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Lawrence Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 21 Park Street, Canton with Rev. Mike Thesier officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 PM until the time of the service. Burial will be in Union Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Richard L. Spencer

Richard L. Spencer, 91 years old, passed away on Saturday December 16, 2017 at his winter home in Lake Placid, Florida.

Born August 31, 1926 in Watertown to Leland and Jane Spencer. He graduated from Dexter High School before entering the United States Navy in 1943. After Naval service he was a member of Naval Reserve.

Dick was married to Audrey Esford on April 21, 1947 at Dexter United Methodist Church. They celebrated 69 years of marriage before Audrey’s death on May 21, 2016. The couple had lived all their married lives in Dexter until moving to Brownville in 2009.

Dick worked at Black Clawson Co. in Watertown for 45 years, retiring as welding shop foreman in 1984.

He was a member of many clubs and organizations, Dexter American Legion, Dexter Masonic Lodge, Dexter Methodist Church, Dexter Fire Dept., Dexter Lions Club, United Methodist Men and Rustic Golf Course. Dick called square dances for many years for the Country Cousins Dance Club.

Since 1983 he and Audrey had wintered in Lake Placid, Florida.

Dick was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved being with his family and participating in all they did. He enjoyed his daily jaunts to the Dexter Diner to meet his friends for breakfast. This was a daily thing he also did in Florida until his passing. He played the harmonica since his teenage years and participated in weekly jam sessions with other musicians in both Brownville and Lake Placid.

Dick is survived by his two daughters, Cheryl (Tom) Ashley of Alexandria Bay and Lake Placid FL., Diane (Reg) Schweitzer of Chaumont. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Daidre (Bryan) Fanis, Debbie (Brian) Jackson, Jennifer (Tony) Augliano, Terra Graffeo (Chris Parillo), Julie (Jamie) Chaltain, RJ (Hartley) Schweitzer. A Step Grandson Eric (Lori) Ashley, 17 Great Grandchildren: Calob (Brianna), Kyle, Jarod, Nicholas, Hayden. Garrett, Ethan, Victoria, Grayson, Trey, Maggie, Brady, Riley, Edie, Audrey, Hank, Amelia and 2 expected shortly. He is also survived by his sister Ruth Duffany, brother in law William Esford and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service will be held in the spring.
