Rowland, Duane Robert. Duane Rowland, 66, of Watertown, NY and formerly of Moodus, CT died April 2nd, 2018 at Saint Joseph Medical Center, Syracuse, NY. Born January 5th, 1952 in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late Robert and Jean (Davidson) Rowland. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 46 years Dorothy (Murphy), children Eric (Jennifer) Rowland of St. Louis, MO, William Rowland of Middletown, CT and Jennifer Rowland of Niantic, CT. He was a cherished grandfather to Isabella, Luke, Carter, and Sophia whom he treasured and was happiest when in their company. He leaves his sisters Sharon Fritz of Moodus, CT, Trudy (Peter) Novak of Wilmington, NC, Thelma Bennis of Moodus, CT and Jeri (Michael) Fortier of Waynesboro, PA. Duane graduated from Nathan Hale-Ray High School in 1971. He retired after 26 years as a machinist with Pratt &Whitney Aircraft and was a respected union member of the International Association of Machinists. Duane will be greatly missed by all and leaves a long legacy of fond memories and stories to be told by many. He will be laid to rest in eternal peace with his father, mother, and brothers (Earl, Ernest and Frederic) during a memorial service with family and friends at 10:00am on Saturday, May 12th in Moodus Cemetery, North Moodus Rd, Moodus, CT. A private gathering will follow. Mrs. Foster passed away early Monday, April 9, 2018 at the Highland Home with her family at her side. Sharon is survived by her daughter, Lori Hawn and her fiancé Bobbie Michaud, Norwood and her five grandchildren, Eric Aldridge Jr., Anthony Foster and Blake, Tristan and Chris Haywood as well as her brothers and sisters. Sharon loved reading and collected stuffed animals and Teddy Bears. She enjoyed horses and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Vernon B. Denesha passed away peacefully at his winter residence in Black Creek, Wisconsin on Sunday, April 8, 2018. The son of Boyd and Ilah (Allen) Denesha, Vernon was born November 21, 1934, in Pitcairn, New York. He was united in marriage with the love of his life Phyllis Fenton on February 4, 1956 in Fine, NY. Together they raised three children and recently celebrated 62 years of marriage.

Vernon was a paper machine supervisor at the Newton Falls Paper Mill, in Newton Falls, New York where he was employed for over 40 years. For many years, Vernon also owned and operated his own business, North County Saw Service in Fine, NY.

Vernon was an avid fisherman and enjoyed sharing his love of the sport and quiet times spent on the water with his grandchildren. It was in these quiet times and through the stories told that he assured the wisdom of his years was passed on to the next generation of his family.

Vernon is survived by his wife Phyllis, daughters, Cathy J. (Todd) LaFrance, Leanne K. (John) Mazuroski, grandchildren Nicole Koster, Lindsey LaFrance, Kaylee Nelson, Cari Denesha, Tori LaFrance, John V. Mazuroski, Cameron LaFrance, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Vernon is also survived by his sister Barbara Wood.

Vernon was a lifetime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 1762, Carthage, New York.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Ilah, a son Carl B. Denesha, his brother Charles Denesha and his step-father Wilfred Fenton.

Services for Vernon will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers Muehl-Boettcher funeral home is accepting donations in Vernon’s memory for restorations to the Fine Town Hall.

Robert F. Church

Robert F. Church, 72, of Canton passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018 while in his sleep. In accordance with is wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.

Robert was born June 21, 1945 in Canton, New York along with his twin brother, Dennis to the late F. Walton and Kathryn (Trageser) Church. Following high school he entered the US Navy. Upon his return from service, Robert worked as an electrician and helped run the family farm, taking over completely following the passing of his father. A marriage to Diane Tiernan Church ended in divorce. Robert married Valerie Baxter on November 24, 1999.

He was a member of the Canton VFW Post 1231. He enjoyed scuba diving, hunting and fishing and was a member of the Quebec Brook Club and the local chapter of the Free and Accepted Mason’s.

Robert is survived by his wife, Valerie Church of Canton; by a son Spencer Church of Hermon; daughter, Jennifer Church of Canton; step-son David Burke (Tasha Bessette) of Canton; brother, Dennis (Cheryl) Church of North Carolina; grandchildren, Travis and McKenzie Church and Lennox Anne Burke; great grandson, Owen Walton Church and by nieces and nephews.

This beautiful soul left this world on Saturday, April 7th to be reunited with her parents Ralph Day, Sr. and Marjorie Day and two older brothers Ralph Day, Jr. and Randy Day. Kathy is survived by her husband, David Bardeschewski of Sandy Creek, NY; her daughters, Lisa Hall and husband Joe Hall of Lacona, NY and Jennifer Bardeschewski and fiancé Jerry Soles of Raleigh, NC; her grandchildren Jada Bachar and Faith Bachar; her sister Debbie Piper and husband Mark Piper; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Kathy was born in Gouverneur, NY and graduated from Sandy Creek Central High School in 1972 where she met the love of her life and High School Sweetheart, David Bardeschewski. They raised two wonderful daughters, Lisa and Jennifer. Kathy was dedicated to her career with the New York State Motor Vehicles in Pulaski, NY where she retired as Supervisor. After retirement, she worked at the family’s business, Bardy’s 4 Season’s Tire & Auto located in Sandy Creek.

Kathy had an eye for decorating her home, over the years, she’s enjoyed sewing, crafts, ceramics, reading and golfing with her husband. She absolutely loved spending hours in her flower beds gardening and spending time soaking in the sun’s rays on a warm summer’s day.

She was a member of the VFW Cable Trail Post 8534 Auxiliary, where she volunteered for many years.

Kathy was beyond loved by her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and will remain forever in our hearts.

We welcome family and friends to join us for calling hours Friday, April 13th from 11am – 3pm at Summerville Funeral Home in Sandy Creek, NY.

Funeral services for Phillip B. Goolden, age 50 of Ogdensburg will be held at 4:00pm on Thursday April 12, 2018 at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Smith officiating. Calling hours will be held also on Thursday from 12:00noon until the time of the service. Phil passed away unexpectedly on Saturday (April 7, 2018) following a fatal gunshot wound.

Surviving is his wife Bridget; three daughters Britney (Torey) Pray, Justine (John Paul) Burns and Emeriza Goolden all of Ogdensburg; grandchildren Olivia Goolden, Harmony Pray, Tory Pray, Annabell Pray, Charlie Pray, Kaden Pray, Dillon Pray and Mariella Burns (unborn).; two brothers Kenneth Goolden, Timothy Goolden & his companion Michelle Matthews all of Ogdensburg; in laws Daniel & Linda Wells of Ogdensburg; brother-in-laws & sister-in-laws Dan Wells of Watertown, Kelly (Terry) Schaub of Maitland, Ontario, Missy (Michael) LaFleaur of Ogdensburg and Micah (Heather) Wells of Ogdensburg; along with many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & cousins.

He was born on May 6, 1967 in Ogdensburg NY, a son of the late Ronald & Carolyn (Jock) Goolden. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and later married Bridget Wells in 1990, at the Ogdensburg Wesleyan Church with Rev. Bernard Fortune officiating.

Phil worked many years in the construction trade for area companies and also for his uncle Ted Goolden. His career also included working at the United Helpers Adult Home for a short period, and later at Suprima Cheese where he became disabled from, due to a chemical injury.

Phil was a fun loving kind of guy who thrived on making others happy. He enjoyed friends and family to the fullest, playing guitar, listening to music, cookouts, and loved his family with all his heart. AKWESASNE – Mrs. Jane M. Tarbell, 62, of 1100 State Route 37, peacefully passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 10, 2018 in the comfort of her home with her family by her side.

Jane was born December 23, 1955 in Huntington, Quebec, the daughter of Janet (Reid) and the late Lester St. Ann. On August 23, 1975, she married Robert Tarbell at St. Regis Catholic Church with Father Arsenault, officiating.

Jane owned and operated at beauty shop in her home for many years. She also was a funeral director with the Donaldson Funeral Home for past several years. She was a member of the Andrew W. Cook American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed planting and maintaining flower gardens, cooking, crafting, sewing, and regular visits to the casino.

Jane is survived by her loving husband, Robert; her children, Tina Tarbell and Wil Whelan; Robert J. Tarbell and Donovon Bradford; Tammy Tarbell and Eric Thompson; Katy Tarbell; and Alee Tarbell and Joey Thompson; her grandchildren, Ky, Kason, Kendra, Kakwiranoron, Iotsienhiio, Roneratatenion, Jolee, Jase, Jaelyn, and Haiden; and a great granddaughter, Iesohtsherine. She is also survived by her mother, Janet of Westville; her sisters, Faye Ross and her companion, John Simons of Moira and Karen Brown of Westville; her brothers, Reid St. Ann of Westville and Tom and Donna St. Ann of Fort Covington; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by her father, Lester; her sister-in-law, Carole St. Ann; and her brother-in-laws, Howard Ross and Jim Brown.

Friends may call at her home, 1100 State Route 37, beginning 11:00 AM Thursday until 11:00 AM Friday, when a brief celebration of her life will be held. A memorial meal will follow the services at the American Legion, the family kindly invites all those wishing to honor Jane to attend.

Earl L. Hoover, 89, went home to be with the Lord April 7, 2018 at Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown.

Earl was born December 27, 1928 to Earl G. and Gertrude Black Hoover in Evans Mills, NY. He was married to and divorced Beverly Rice, a marriage to Helen Bauder ended after Helen’s death. Earl married Donna Dasno on November 7, 1975.

A memorial service will be held at aNew Way Assembly 116 Haley St., Watertown on April 27, 2018 at 11 a.m. with burial of ashes to follow at North Watertown Cemetery.

Earl was enlisted in the United States Army from 1946 to 1973, serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He retired from the Fort Drum Motor Pool in 1990 as a motor transport officer. Earl also worked for the military police force, and was a member of the Full Gospel Men’s Association, aNew Way Assembly of God and Mercy Point Assembly of God.

He is predeceased by a brother, Herbert Hoover, sisters Barbara Roberts and Marilyn McCarthy and a son, Kevin F. Hoover Sr.

Earl is survived by his sons Ronald (Debby) Hoover, Hicksville, OH, David (Maryann) Hoover, Carthage, Donald (April) Hoover, Wilmington, OH, his stepson James (Christina) Joseph, Adams, daughters Susan (Rick) Hamby, West Falls, Nanette Hoover Lawrence, Watertown, Marilyn (Ron) Hamblin Sr., Antwerp, Linda Hoover, Watertown, Tina Belair, Croghan, step-daughter Sherry Martin, Watertown, sisters Beverly Blanchard, Syracuse, Norma Warren, Mohawk, Edna (Jack) Donato, Watertown, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In loving memory of Gail LaRose, age 77, who died peacefully on April 11, 2018 in her home in Ballston Lake, NY. She was surrounded by her family after battling advanced Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Gail was born October 10, 1940, in Ogdensburg, NY, the daughter of Hurlburt Charles Bogardus and Marie Margaret Chevrier. She is predeceased by her parents Hurlburt and Marie and her brother Ronald Frank Bogardus.

Gail went to high school at Ogdensburg Free Academy and graduated in 1959. She graduated from the Utica School of Cosmetology in 1960. In 1961, Gail married the love of her life, Donald Lincoln LaRose. They lived in Whitesboro, NY for several years where three of their five children were born. They then lived in Merritt Island, FL for several years prior to moving to Schenectady, NY where the last two of their children were born and they lived for forty years. In 2015, they moved to Ballston Lake, NY.

Gail is survived by her husband of 58 years, Donald Lincoln LaRose; her five children Michele Marie (Ronald) Croce, Michael Lincoln (Elizabeth) LaRose, Deborah Ann LaRose, Patricia Gail (Paul) Flint and Timothy Charles (Ania) LaRose; seven grandchildren, Alyson Gail Flint, Andrew John Flint, Katherine Gail LaRose, Victoria Elizabeth LaRose, Aidan Michael Flint, Timothy Lincoln LaRose and Maya Terajewicz LaRose; her brother Lawrence Hurlburt (Mary) Bogardus and a number of relatives and close friends.

Gail built a beautiful home for her family and worked as a teacher’s assistant at Brown School and St. Kateri Tekakwitha. She was active in the church and served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years at both St. John the Evangelist Church in Schenectady and St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church in Schenectady. Since moving to Ballston Lake, she has been a parishioner at Corpus Christi Church in Round Lake, NY.

Gail enjoyed traveling to Europe, Asia and throughout the US. Hawaii was her favorite place to be during the winter months. Spending time with her seven grandchildren was also one of her favorite things to do. She is adored by all seven.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday April 14, 2018 at 11am at Corpus Christi Church, Round Lake, NY. Family and friends may call from 9:30am-11am at Corpus Christi Church prior to the service. Christian entombment will immediately follow at Most Holy Redeemer, Schenectady, NY.

Bruce D. Burns Sr, 53, passed away on Tuesday April 10, 2018 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse. A funeral service will be held on Saturday April 14, 2018 at 2 PM, with Rev. Douglas Ploof, pastor of East Pitcairn Wesleyan Church officiating, calling hours will precede the funeral service from 12 to 2 PM. A celebration of life gathering will be held immediately following in the community room at the Edwards Hepburn Library.

Bruce was born in Gouverneur on March 04, 1965, the son of Malley and Edith White. He received his GED in 2016.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling, scrapping metal, derbying cars, but most of all he loved being around his children and spending time with his grand babies. Bruce also at one time drove stock cars at Evans Mills and CanAm speedways.

Bruce is survived by his 6 children, a daughter, Melissa and Joseph Bellinger of Edwards; daughter, Terry and her fiance Mark LaFreniere of Potsdam; Son, Bruce Jr. and Megan of Madrid; daughter, Cassandra and Richard McCrossan of Watertown; son, Robert Burns and Arlene Butler of Carthage; son Jacob Burns and Angel Snyder of Gouverneur; brother David Burns of Florida; the loves of his life his 14 grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, a son Justin Bresett, and 2 brothers Ricky and John.
