Funeral services for Michael A. Moore, age 70 of Church Street in Lisbon, will be held at 10:00am on Thursday (May 24, 2018) with military honors at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Smith officiating. His place of rest will be at Foxwood Memorial Park.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00pm at the funeral home, with a Masonic ritual taking place at 7:00pm. Mr. Moore passed away at his home on Monday (May 21, 2018) surrounded by his loving family. Surviving is his wife Sherrill Moore of Lisbon; a son Brian Moore of Lisbon, a daughter Melissa (Michael) Burke of Lisbon; grandchildren Jordan, Shelbie & Shannon LaRock, Brian Moore II and Olivia & Michael Burke; great-grandchildren Madyson, Vanessa & Cyrus Thomas and Elijah & Gabriella Vernsey; two brothers John Moore & Danny Davis; four sisters Ann Costa, June Kirby, Noni Wickman, Rosemarie Smith & Michelle Moore.

His daughter Kellie D. Moore and two sisters Sally Moore and Caroline Moore predeceased him.

Mike was born on August 31, 1947 in Ogdensburg NY, a son of the late Myrton & Jane (Allison) Moore. He graduated from Lisbon High School and entered the US Navy during the Vietnam Era from 1965 to 1968 serving in Japan and the Philippines as a Jet Mechanic. He married Sherrill M. Dezell on July 5, 1969 in Lisbon, and later continued his education at Technical Computer School of Hartford Connecticut and SUNY Canton, where he earned an Associate’s Degree in computers.

During his career he was employed a Niagara Mohawk as a lineman, Agway as a mill operator and later as a NYS Correctional Officer at the Ogdensburg Correctional Facility until he retired in 2010. Mike was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Lodges in Heuvelton and Waddington, the Racquette Valley Fish & Game Club in Colton.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, fishing trips to Quebec, boating, gardening, his camp on Higley Flow, spending time in the Adirondacks and visiting with family and friends. Lisbon: Emma Faith Marie Barclay-Doner passed away in infancy on May 17, 2018 at Upstate Hospital in Syracuse, NY.

Emma is survived by her mother, April Barclay of Lisbon; her father, Sean Doner of Canton; Grandparents, Kathy Barclay of Waddington, Clifford Barclay of Lisbon, Ginny and husband Thomas Doner of Ronkonkoma, NY; three uncles, Michael Barclay and fiancé Heather Osoway of Canton; Bryan Doner and Tommy Doner both of Ronkonkoma, NY.

Massena: Jean S. Roberts, age 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the St. Regis Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 23, 1932 in Wrexham, North Wales, United Kingdom the daughter of Jonathan and Margaret (Baines) Williams.

Jean immigrated to Toronto Canada via the “M.V. Britannic” Ship from Liverpool, England on February 27, 1953.

She married the love of her life, Arnold L. Roberts on November 20, 1954 in Toronto, Ontario Canada. She and her husband came to Massena in January 1961 with their two children. She began her career at the St. Regis Nursing Home as a physical therapy aide and retired from there after 30 years of service. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles and knit. It seems everyone had a scarf, mittens or blanket she knitted. She always said that every stitch was filled with “love”.

Jean is Survived by her husband of 63 years, Arnold, and their loving children, daughter Karen A. and Vincent J. George of Massena, and son, Philips L. Roberts and his companion Stacy Rooks, of Clay, NY; five grandchildren, Andrew J. George of Baltimore, MD; Nicholas A. George, of Massena, NY; Patrick V. George, of Grand Rapids, MI; Brianna Roberts, of Clay, NY; Philip Riley Roberts, of Odessa, NY; along with a sister Norma Taggart of West Australia.

She was predeceased by her parents, two sisters, Betty and Dolly, and two brothers, Eric and Bromley, a daughter in infancy, Margaret Roberts, and a grandson, Charles L. Roberts.

A service of Christian burial will take place 1:00 P.M. on Saturday June 2, 2018 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, with Mother Kathryn Boswell officiating. Interment to follow in the columbarium at St. John’s Episcopal Church.

Funeral services for Barbara J. Lowery, age 83 of Brier Hill, will be held at 11:00am on Saturday (May 26, 2018) at Foxwood Memorial Park Chapel with Pastor David Sheppard officiating. Calling hours will be held also on Saturday from 10:00am until the time of the service at the Mausoleum. Mrs. Lowery passed away on Friday (May 18, 2018) at the Riverledge Healthcare Facility after being there only a short time.

Surviving are her children Vernon Lowery of Morristown, Phyllis Marshall & her fiancée Mark Blanchard of Morristown, Suzanne Slate of Darby, MT, son-n-law Hilton Hotaling of Morristown, brother Philip Gibson of Ogdensburg; a sister Betty Lowery of Brier Hill; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins.

Her daughter Denise Hotaling; husband Vernon Lowery; three brothers Victor, Gerald & Richard Gibson and five sisters Janice Neddo, Florence Gascon, Helen Handschuh, Ester Stever & Elizabeth Gascon predeceased her.

Barbara was born on June 5, 1934 in Ogdensburg NY, a daughter of the late Henry & Ruth (Robinson) Gibson. At 16 Barb moved in with Don & Ruth Dunham of Hammond, and during that time became a sister to their son Dwayne. She graduated from Hammond High School and later married Vernon H. Lowery in 1952. After all the children were born in Hammond, she and her husband farmed for a period in North Carolina, and in 1972 relocated back to the North Country where the couple raised their family.

Barbara was a member of the Brier Hill Fire Department Auxiliary and the Orange County Square Dancing Club. She enjoyed going to the casino, trying her luck with scratch off tickets, playing bingo, shopping, traveling, gardening, canning, playing cards & scrabble, spending time at camp, annual luncheons with siblings on their birthdays and the many years of the Gibson family reunions.

Robert E. Norland passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 20, 2018, in Gainesville, Fl. He was born in Warrensburg, Missouri on January 12, 1956, to Robert and Armande Norland. After the family moved to Black River, New York in 1959, he graduated from Carthage Central High School and completed his BS in Industrial Engineering at the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. Rob moved to the Dallas, Texas area after college and began his career at Texas Instruments. His life in Texas spanned 37 years before moving to Gainesville 3 years ago to help his sister with the care of their aging mother.

Rob’s first love was the game of golf. He loved everything about the game - reading about the physics of it, taking lessons, practicing daily, (always in a constant cycle of improvement), playing in tournaments and a brief stint as aPn LPGA caddy. But, what he loved most were the people. He cherished golf trips with his friends including the Carlinville Open, the Cody Stampede, and the annual Orlando trips. He amassed quite a collection of golf clubs and quite a collection of stories. He was also a self-proclaimed “chef” and, when not on the golf course, could be found in the kitchen or with his grill.

He is survived by his mother, Armande Norland, Gainesville, FL, sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn and Anthony Brennan, Gainesville, Fl, nieces Meaghan (Craig) Gulledge, Gainesville, FL, Claire Reilly, Austin, TX, Abby Brennan, Raleigh, NC, nephews Henry (Jennifer) Brennan, Denver, CO, Travis Reilly, Cheyenne, WY, great-nephew and great-niece, Owen and Bridget Gulledge, Gainesville, FL and, his constant canine companion, Rose. He is also survived by many extended relatives and friends, including Lisa Looney of Lindale, Texas.

Rob is preceded in death by his father, Robert B. Norland and sister, Debra Reilly.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Elk Creek Church in Kensett, Iowa. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at E. T. York Haven Hospice for their unending love and care. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Haven Hospice in Rob’s name.


Ms. Beverly B. Bullis

Ms. Beverly B. Bullis, 77, of Canton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the Gouverneur Hospital where she was in the company of her daughter, Peggy and her sister, Shirley.

Beverly was born March 14, 1941 in Russell, the daughter of the late Howard A. and Mabel A. (Blackmer) Fifield. She attended Russell Schools. On June 27, 1959 she was married to Ira “Pete” Bullis at the First Presbyterian Church of Canton. The marriage ended in divorce.

Beverly is a lifelong resident of the Canton area. She worked in several homes, cleaning for local families and later became a nurse’s aide at the Canton Hospital. She was also a member of the Brick Chapel Ladies Aid Society.

Beverly is survived by a daughter, Peggy (Ricky) Shea of South Colton; a brother, Jay (Kathy Whiteford) Fifield of Canton; a sister, Shirley (Ike Guyette) Briggs of Canton; a brother-in-law, Cecil (Nancy Butler) Wells of Heuvelton; and her little sweetheart, Shayden Sloan.

She is predeceased by a daughter, Darlene; a son, Alan; sisters, Jean Wells and infant Betty Jean; brothers, Howard Jr., Lloyd and Brayton Fifield and by a granddaughter, Heather.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Canton Rescue Squad; 77 Riverside Drive; Canton, New York 13617.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Brick Chapel Cemetery; Canton. There will be no calling hours.

GLENFIELD – Lowaine A. “Wink” Woolschlager, 85, passed away early, Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Lewis County General Hospital.

Calling hours will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc. A prayer service with Military Honors will be at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the funeral Home, with a funeral service to be held at First Mennonite Church, New Bremen at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018 with Pastor Ed Steckly officiating. Burial will be at First Mennonite Church Cemetery. Contributions may be made to First Mennonite Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 65 years, Dorothy; his 3 children, Sandra Jean Woolschlager of Glenfield, Scott Lowaine (Christina) Woolschlager of Glenfield, and Suzette Joy (Fred) Cole of Glenfield; 3 grandchildren, Lucy (Garrett) Austin, Emily Cole, and Megan (Derek) Weber, 2 great grandsons, Caleb Earl Austin and Mason Lowaine Weber; a brother and sister-in-law, Elwin and Mary Woolschlager of Lowville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by a brother Calson Royce Woolschlager, who died at age 2.

Wink was born on February 15, 1933 in the Town of New Bremen, NY, a son of the late Arthur W. and Lucy Virkler Woolschlager. He graduated from Lowville Academy in 1951 and worked on the family farm. On June 24, 1953 he married Dorothy M. Lehman at Evangelical United Brethren Church in Beaver Falls, NY with Rev. Norman D, officiating. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served from 1953 to 1957 during the Korean War. After his service, he worked at the block mill in Croghan, V.S. Virkler for 2 years, and Lowville Farmer’s Co-op until taking over his parent’s farm in 1962. He owned and operated his parent’s farm for a number of years before selling the farm, and going to work for Carl Zehr for carpentry work. He then drove bus for Lowville, and then Copenhagen for 17 ½ years, retiring in 1995.

Wink was a member of the First Mennonite Church, New Bremen. He was a life member of Lewis County Memorial Post #6912, a member of Lowville American Legion #162, a life member of Lowville Fish and Game, and a member of BPOE #1605, Lowville Elks Lodge. He enjoyed bowling since bowling came to Lowville, and bowled on a league for AMF. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snow sledding, and four wheeling.

TURIN –John H. Clark Jr., 88, passed away Wednesday morning, May 23, 2018 at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility. There will be no funeral service or calling hours. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family at the Turin Cemetery. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 65 years, Eileen; his 2 children and their spouses, Patricia and Kenneth Krokowski of Constableville, John R. and Kitty Clark of Turin; 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by a brother, Charles Clark and a sister, Eleanor Laing.

John was born September 23, 1929 in Scranton, PA, a son of the late John H. and Nellie Swasey Clark Sr. He lived in Pennsylvania for about 2 years and then his family moved to Glenfield in 1931. In 1939 they moved to Glendale Houseville intersection and worked on Gibbs farm (milk route), Salmon Bros farm, helping with haying and corn harvest. John worked on many farms in his younger years during the summers, such as the Duncan farm, driving truck, and working for Claude Bardo, driving hay truck and other equipment, George Higby’s farm, and worked for Elwin Rowell. He graduated from Cornell University Agriculture School in 1951 and took a job with Ferguson Distribution in Cortland, spending 2 years in the parts warehouse and 1 year on the road visiting dealers. He also worked for a Ferguson dealer in North Syracuse. He married Eileen Rowell on June 5, 1953 at Glenfield United Methodist Church with Rev.Weck officiating. From 1955 to 1958, John taught agriculture at Windsor, NY and then took a job at Washington County, teaching driving at Cambridge and Salem, NY for 7 years. In 1965, he bought an 80 acre dairy farm and sold it in 1976. Mr. Clark retired from U.S.D.A government office in Lowville.

M. Audrey Race, 88, formerly of Hermon, died Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Maplewood Campus where she was a resident since 2016. She was the wife of the late Arthur Race, who died in 1993. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 7:15 PM at Lawrence Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Canton with Lay Minister John Frary officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 5-7 PM. Burial will be held in Lisbon Cemetery at a later date. Audrey was born January 22, 1930 in Lisbon, NY. She was a daughter of the late, James A. & Lena J. (Aubrey) Harper and graduated from Lisbon Central School in 1946 and later from Wallace Secretarial School in 1948. On May 21, 1949, she married Arthur Race, Jr. at the Presbyterian Mance in Heuvelton with Rev. Allan G. Bowering as celebrant.

Audrey worked for Social Services from 1949-50. Worked for Hugh C. Williams as his secretary in 1954, then worked at SUNY Cornell for 19 years, retiring in 1985. She later worked for Office of the Aging, retiring in 1994.

She was a 50+ year member of Crary Mills Presbyterian Church where she served as organist and belonged to United Presbyterian Women and later for Hermon United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the St. Lawrence County Historical Society. Surviving are her children Robert (Peg McFarren) Race of Eagan, MN, Michael (Vicky Barron) Race of Port Barre, LA, James (Cathy Allen) Race of Hermon, NY and Suzanne (Stephen) Mackey of Schenectady, NY; seven grandchildren, William (Eva) and Timothy Mackey, Sara Race, Caitlyn Race, Jonathan (Debra) Race, Dezirae Preston and Chelsea Streeter and five great-grandchildren. Audrey had numerous interests including, music, doing needlework, quilting, cooking, gardening, traveling and camping and playing card games. She was also an avid fisherwoman.

Felts Mills- Amy Jo Kloster-Malo, 33, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday May 19, 2018 at her home.

Born in Watertown, New York on August 19, 1984, she was the daughter of Jefferey Scott and Bonnie (Powell) Kloster. She graduated from Gouverneur High School in 2003.

Amy Jo married James Malo on October 26, 2007 in Watertown, New York.

Home and family life were everything to Amy Jo. You could usually find her at home working on a landscaping project or working on a crafting project with her children. She enjoyed making picture collages for everyone to enjoy. She helped her mother run as dog control for St. Lawrence County, and was especially fond of St. Bernard’s. Amy was always known to have fun and be the organizer of events. Amy had a big heart for giving her time and effort, and for putting others’ needs above her own. Amy Jo was the President of the Evans Mills Volunteer Ambulance Squad. She was previously employed at KOHLS department store in Watertown, New York.

She is survived by her husband, James Malo of Felts Mills; two daughters Audrianna Elaine and Ashlynn Grace. Her mother, Bonnie and step father Everett Wylie of Oxbow. Amy Jo is also survived by a brother Johnathan Rafferty, two sisters Stacey and Patricia Rafferty, her maternal grandmother Yvonne Stevens of Canton.

Amy Jo was preceded in death by her father, Jefferey Scott Kloster, her sister Shannon Rafferty, her Grandfather Francis Kloster, and her uncle Harold Kloster of Croghan.

Calling hours are set to take place at Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur, on Saturday May 26, 2018 from 11:00AM to 1:00PM. A funeral service will follow at 1:00PM, with her father in law Al Malo of Salem Missionary Baptist Church, Oblong, Illinois, officiating. Amy’s final resting place will be in St. Vincent dePaul Cemetery in Belfort, New York, next to her grandfather Francis Kloster, and uncle Harold Kloster who were her world.

SOUTH COLTON – Funeral services for Judith E. Wolf McNamara will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. at St., Patrick’s Church in Colton with Rev. Stephen Rocker presiding. A luncheon will be held at St. Patrick’s Parish Center hosted by the Altar and Rosary Society following the services. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. Mrs. McNamara passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the age of 80, while residing at the home of her daughter, Diane surrounded by her loving family and her life companion Ed McCarthy.

Judy is survived by a son, David R. Wolf, Glens Falls; her three daughters, Diane L. Wolf, Colton; Barbara J. and Steven Celeste, Glens Falls; Beth Ann and William Coates, Queensbury; her seven beloved grandchildren, William, Joseph and Jami Celeste, Robert and Brianna Beaulieu, and Billy and Emily Coates. Judy is also survived by her two brothers Jack Graham and Thomas and Mary Little, both of Buffalo; several nieces and nephews and her companion for the last twelve years, Edward McCarthy, of Colton. Judy was pre-deceased by her parents, her first husband Robert O. Wolf and a brother Robert Graham.

Born in Buffalo, NY September 28th, 1937 to the late Jack E. and Leona Hait Graham, Judy married Robert O. Wolf on July 27th, 1956. Robert later passed away on February 18th, 1983. A later marriage to Don McNamara ended in divorce. Judy worked as a teacher’s assistant for the Colton-Pierrepont Central School District for 26 years, retiring in 2001. She was a past member of the St. Patrick’s Church Altar and Rosary Society and the Parishville Amvets Ladies Auxiliary. Judy loved traveling and vacation in Myrtle Beach, spending time with her family and friends. She leaves behind many dear friends both here at home as well as in Myrtle Beach. ANGELO - Spring Burial for Mr. James A. Angelo who passed away on December 2, 2017, will be held on Saturday May 26, 2018 at 11:15 am in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waddington, NY. Phillips Memorial Home is handling the arrangements for James Angelo.

FILLHART - The spring burial for Arlene Jane Thomas Fillhart will be held on Monday, May 28th at 10:00 am in the Woodside Cemetery. Mrs. Fillhart passed away on March 15th at her daughter Gwen’s home in Watertown.

Arrangements are with Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville.

Monica Marshall Youngs, age 60, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Hospice of Jefferson County. There will be no calling hours or funeral services. A committal service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Monica was born on July 9, 1957, daughter of Patrick “Pat” and Korleen (Fox) Marshall. She was a 1976 graduate of Thousand Islands High School.

On April 3, 1982 at Depauville United Methodist Church she married Robert F. Youngs. Monica owned the upholstery shop “Tack n’ Hammer” in Clayton, displaying a wonderful knack for bringing old pieces back to life, and she went on to provide cleaning services in her home town of Clayton. Monica truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures: the beautiful St. Lawrence River, being surrounded by friends and family, and spending time with her grandchild, Owen Wayne. Monica had an uncanny ability to keep a positive outlook on life in every way.

Along with her husband, Robert, Monica is survived by her two children, son Ryan and daughter Keshia; grandson Owen; mother Korleen; sisters, Georgeen (Marshall) Clarke and Jean Marshall; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and all her friends whose lives Monica touched. She was predeceased by her father, Patrick J. Marshall.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations are made to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham St., Watertown, NY 13601 or River Hospital, 4 Fuller St., Alexandria Bay, NY 13607. Arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton and online condolences to her family may be posted at www.cummingsfuneral.com.
