Harry R. White, 82, Henderson passed away Sunday, January 13th in the Emergency Room of the Samaritan Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at the Smithville Baptist Church on Sunday, January 20th at 1:00 pm.

Kenneth H. Woodward Jr.

Kenneth H. Woodward Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, January 13, 2018 in hospice care in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Ken, the son of the late Kenneth H. Woodward Sr. and Myrtle E. Morin was born on February 22, 1936 in Watertown, New York. He graduated from Watertown High School and wed Martha L. Giltz on August 17, 1957.

Ken is survived by his wife Martha Giltz Woodward of Ocoee, FL; his children Kimberly Woodward of Santa Fe, NM, David Woodward of Lakeland, FL, Michael Woodward of Albuquerque, NM, Katherine Phipps of Ocoee, Fl; brother Robert Woodward of Watertown and sister Linda Ornelas of Boonville, MO; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ken will be dearly missed by his family and friends and was often thought of as a kind and gentle soul by all who knew him. He loved his job of over 25 years at Universal Studios Orlando where he had recently retired.

As per his wishes, there will be no funeral service. Arrangements are being made with the DeGusipe Funeral Home in Ocoee, Florida. Burial will take place in the spring where he will be laid to rest alongside his mother in the North Watertown Cemetery. Helen M. Greene

Helen M. Greene, age 85 of Hammond passed away on Monday (Jan 14, 2019) at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Burial will be in the spring at Cedar Cemetery on Black Lake.

Visitation will be held on Saturday (Jan 19th) from 1:00pm-4:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. As per Helen’s request there will no funeral service.

Surviving are her children Donnie (Meryl) Greene of Hammond, Nancy Greene of Hammond and Lori Greene of Hammond; a sister Louise Halladay of Oxbow; three grandchildren Tanya (Andy) Parker-Fleming of Philadelphia NY, Julie (Clinton) Kampnich of LaFargeville and Danielle Greene of Hammond; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband Robert Greene and three brothers Ronald, Wendell & Richard Raven.

Helen was born on April 20, 1933 in Heuvelton NY, a daughter of the late Carl & Mary (Bailey) Raven. She graduated from Heuvelton Central School and later married Robert Greene on January 18, 1957 in Morristown.

Helen was a stay at home wife and mother that loved the outdoors, gardening, crocheting, canning fruits and vegetables, cooking, making donuts, going to garage sales and attending grandchildren’s sporting events & family gatherings.

Helen Tice Verrey of Dexter, NY passed away peacefully on January 8, 2019 in Watertown, NY at the age of 97. Helen was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She resided in Dexter, NY for 25 years and was formerly from Glen Rock and Waldwick, NJ. She was predeceased by her husband Albert C. Tice in 1964. She is survived by her husband of 45 years Emil Verrey, her daughters Christine O’Keefe and her husband Dennis of Mahwah, NJ, Judith Miggels and her husband Stephen of Lake Pleasant, NY, and Marcia LePore and her husband Michael of Bernardsville, NJ as well as her beloved grandchildren, Colleen, Shannon and Kerri O’Keefe, Brian and Christopher Miggels, and Michael LePore. She was a proud great-grandmother to her seven great-grandchildren, Ashley and Marissa O’Keefe, Kyla and Caity Egan, Alexis Powell and William and Hudson Miggels. Visitation will be held on Thursday January 10, 2019 from 5-8 PM and Friday January 11, 2019 from 1-3 PM at the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Avenue, Ramsey, NJ. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 10 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 155 Linwood Avenue, Ridgewood, NJ. Elizabeth R. Richter, age 89 of Dexter passed away Monday afternoon at the home of her daughter with family by her side under the care of Hospice.

Elizabeth was born October 11, 1929 in Brooklyn, N.Y. the daughter of Patrick F. and Mary E. Foley Scully. She graduated from school at Lady of Perpetual Hope, PS 140 in Brooklyn and became a registered nurse following three years of nursing school.

She married Edward C. Richter on June 23, 1951 in Brooklyn. Mr. Richter passed away September 24, 1994.

Elizabeth was a Registered Nurse working at Shore Road Hospital and her last ten years was at the Carthage Area Hospital. She was a member of the Grange, Natural Bridge Ladies Fire Auxiliary, St. Henry’s Altar and Rosary. She so enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by the following children: Daniel and Lori Richter of Hume, NY, Irene Sullivan and Alan Gross of Dexter, Helen and Steve Brotherton of Philadelphia, NY. She has seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A brother William Scully of Pompano Beach, FL also survives.

She was predeceased by her sister Patricia Hedges.

A funeral mass will be held Monday January 21st at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church of Brownville with Fr. J. Michael Gaffney officiating. Burial will be in St. Cecelia’ Catholic Cemetery in Adams in the spring. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. LOWVILLE- Leon H. Reape, 82, of East State Street, Lowville, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at his home.

A funeral Mass will be said on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville with Rev. Jay Seymour, Pastor officiating. A luncheon in St. Peter’s Church Fellowship Hall will immediately follow the funeral Mass. Spring burial will be in Lowville Rural Cemetery. (Michael) Fayle of Lowville; six grandchildren, Jacob Reape and Lacey, Katelyn (Dillon) Reitzel, Connor Fayle, Matthew Fayle, Daniel Fayle, Kurt VerSchneider, four great-grandchildren Tjaden Reape, Kain Reitzel, Addelyn Reitzel, and Lainey Reape; four brothers, Raymond (Karen) Reape of Castorland, Harvey Reape of Castorland, Thomas Reape of Castorland, and Francis Reape of Castorland, a brother-in-law Duane Kloster of Castorland; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by a son, Michael K. Reape who died on February 9, 1972; a sister, DiAnn Kloster, a sister-in-law Nancy Reape.

Leon was born on March 26, 1936 in Lowville, NY, a son of the late Calistus L. and M. Edna (Rowsam) Reape and grew up on the Rector Road, attending a one-room school house and graduated from Lowville Academy & Central School in 1956. On October 20, 1962 he married Janet Abel at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Castorland, NY with Rev. Flavin Colligan OFM officiating. Leon worked for the Lowville Producers milk station, Beaverite Products, Inc. and Climax Mfg. Co., Castorland, retiring from Bosie Cacade after several years. He was a communicant of the former St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Castorland where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville where he was a Eucharistic minister for several years and brought Communion to the elderly. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a 4-H leader for many years. His hobbies included, reading, woodworking, history, hunting turkeys, deer, he enjoyed the woods and all wildlife. He was a member of the Fairchild Hunting Club and the Tug Hill Fish & Game Club. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. In his earlier years he enjoyed dancing—especially the Irish Clog. Most of all, he loved to camp with family and watch his grandsons playing sports. He was an avid fan of Lowville Academy sports and enjoyed watching all the games.

Leon is a firm believer in helping anyone in need. All he asked in return was that they do the same for someone else in need. The door always remains open. If a stranger visits, they leave as a friend.

Leon’s family and friends will forever miss his big smile and twinkling eyes.

Bertha W. Pierce

Bertha W. Pierce, (age 102), formerly of Black River, passed away peacefully Jan. 12, 2019 at the Samaritan Summit Village.

She was born on August 26, 1916 in Black River, NY, the daughter of Clarence and Essie(Babcock) Waful. She graduated from Black River High School and then went on to receive her teaching certificate from Potsdam Normal School in 1938. Following school Bertha taught in a one room school house on the Dry Hill Road in Watertown for a year.

She married Rev. Rollo D. Peirce on October 5, 1940 at the Black River United Methodist Church. Bertha became her husband’s partner in ministry and was very active playing the organ, teaching Sunday school, in women’s missionary groups and singing in the choir. The couple began their ministry in Constantia, NY and would reside throughout the North Country during his career. The last church the couple served was in Whitesboro, NY. In 1974 Rev. Rollo Pierce passed away and Bertha returned home to Black River. She resided in the very home she was born and raised in until she moved to the Samaritan Summit Village in May of 2018.

Bertha was a member of the Kamargo Alumni Association, United Methodist Women’s Group (in which she held several offices on Conference, District and local levels), Treasurer of Point Peninsula United Methodist Church (Little White Church by the Lake), Secretary of Black River United Methodist Church, and was always a part of various local clubs such as garden and historical clubs when serving a community.

She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, knitting, crafting, birds and nature, and gardening. She and her husband and family enjoyed spending their summers at the cottage on Point Peninsula since 1948 and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Among her survivors are her children, William Dee Pierce, TX, Thomas E. (Renna) Pierce, Port Lyden, Mark L. (Kathleen) Pierce, Cape Vincent and Priscilla P. Parker, Black River; ten grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and her loving husband she is predeceased by a brother, Clarence E. Waful and a sister, Ruth Porter.

Arrangements are with the Bruce Funeral Home Black River. Calling hours will be held 10 a.m. to Noon, Sat. Jan 26, at the Black River United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at Noon at the church with Rev. Robert McCarthy pastor officiating. There will be a luncheon following the service, also at the church. Burial in Sanford Corners Cemetery will be held in spring.

Harry E. “Red” Hinkley

WATSON – Harry E. “Red” Hinkley, 78, of Watson, NY, passed away Sunday morning, January 13, 2019.

Mr. Hinkley was born on June 2, 1940 in Livingston Manor, NY the son of the late Edward Grant “Red” Hinkley and Gladys Irene (Burlingame) Hinkley. Harry was proud to have built four homes, he loved riding his ATV, motorcycle, and snowmobile. Red loved to work, driving a truck was his passion.

He married Theresa Marie Jones on September, 20 1987 in Monticello, NY. The couple moved to the North Country and made their home in the town of Watson.

Red was a past member of the Teamster and Boiler Maker Unions as well as a member of the Monticello Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his wife Teri and his children Donna Packard and Gladys Palmer, as well as his and Teri’s children Tracey Sweeney, Jennifer DeMarco, Joseph Galasso, Anthony Galasso, Lori Steigmeier, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sister Betty Peters, and brothers Roy Hinkley, Bruce Hinkley, and Warren Mastrogiovanni.

Harry is predeceased by his brother James Hinkley.

Carl Lawrence Plante

Carl Lawrence Plante of Virginia Beach passed away at home on January 12, 2019. Carl was born on October 13, 1933, to Albert and Mary Agnes Van Buren Plante in Watertown, NY. He graduated from Immaculate Heart Academy in 1951 and then served four years in the Navy. After his time in the Navy, he attended Clarkson College, where he earned a degree in electrical engineering. Carl married Lucille “Louie” Reff on October 29, 1960. His work brought them to Norfolk in 1962, and they settled in Virginia Beach in 1966. Carl spent most of his career working for the Naval Air Warfare Center, Naval Training Systems Division from which he retired in 1997. In his 40s, Carl took up running and competed in races from 5Ks to marathons, often placing in the top three of his age group. Carl was an active member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, where he attended until his health declined.

Carl is survived by his wife of 58 years; eight children, Laura (Jeff) White of Richmond, VA, Martha (Jerry) Donoghue of Virginia Beach, Matthew (Shelley Nowacek) Plante of Virginia Beach, Julie (Scott) McDonough of South Riding, VA, Angela (Darren Barnes) Plante of Fredericksburg, VA, Karen (Roy) Alther of Virginia Beach, Philip (Lisa) Plante of Williamsburg, VA, and Douglas (Marcelo Bernal) Plante of Atlanta, GA; seventeen grandchildren; one brother, Joseph Plante of Watertown, NY; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. Carl was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Paul Plante and Albert Plante; infant twins, Daniel and Jenifer Plante; and one grandson, Andrew White.

The family will receive friends at 12 pm on Friday, January 18, 2019 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 712 Little Neck Road, Virginia Beach, where a memorial mass will be held at 1 pm. Harry Readith White

Harry Readith White, 82, went home to be with His Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 13, 2019. Harry, a native of Boone County, West Virginia, is survived by his devoted wife, Lavonne, his youngest son, Eric, his daughters, Valli and Linda, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his first wife, Anna Marie, his sons, Scott and Marshall, and seven siblings.

Harry was born in Wharton, West Virginia to Ellsworth and Bessie Mae White on January 19, 1936. Harry was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Armor Division. He lived most of his adult life in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and retired in 1999 after 36 years as a steel worker. Harry moved to Henderson, New York in 2000, and was a resident of Samaritan Keep Home, in Watertown, N.Y. for the last three years.

Harry was a loyal member of the Smithville Baptist Church and a faithful servant of God. Harry was a student of the Bible and enjoyed his daily devotional readings. Coming from a large family of country and bluegrass music lovers, Harry found pleasure playing his guitar and singing hymns. One of his favorite things was a big southern breakfast with buttermilk biscuits, milk gravy and apple butter. Harry was known for his witty sense of humor and always joked around with everyone he came into contact with. Harry was a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and became a Yankees baseball fan after he relocated to New York. Always known for his sly smile and mischievous twinkle in his eye, Harry will be remembered as a kind and loving gentleman; exceptionally generous to his family, church, miscellaneous charitable and veterans organizations.

There will be a memorial service for Harry on Sunday, January 20th at 1:00 pm at Smithville Baptist Church, Smithville, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, please make any contributions to the Smithville Baptist Church, PO Box 20, Adams Center, NY 13606.

Keith D. Boardman

Port Leyden – Keith D. Boardman, 44, of Moose River Road, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 14, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital, New Hartford.

Keith was born on December 18, 1974 in Lowville, a son of Philip and Barbara Hardy Boardman. He was raised on the Moose River Road and was a graduate of South Lewis Central School with the Class of 1993. Keith enjoyed sports, especially baseball and football and participated in little league baseball in his youth. While in high school, Keith attended the criminal justice program at the Howard G. Sackett BOCES Center in Glenfield.

Keith was a very hard worker, dedicated to every job he had. Following his education he was employed for a time with the Miller Blacktop Co. of Remsen before beginning his career in corrections at the Clinton County Correctional Facility in Plattsburgh. Returning to the North Country, Keith was employed for a time with Valeriano Construction Co. of Utica. He was able to return to his career in Corrections, through his employment with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Dept., where he was currently a correctional officer at the Lewis County Jail in Lowville.

Keith was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed the sport of hunting. He was blessed with the opportunity to go on hunting expeditions with his father to Canada, where they were successful in their hunts for caribou and black bear. Keith played an active role in the Northern Tier Friends of the NRA. He was a very kind individual and cherished all time spent with his family. He loved his fellow man, and valued the help he was able to give others in their time of need.

Keith is survived by his parents Philip and Barbara Boardman, his brother Philip Boardman, Jr., and a nephew James Boardman, all of Port Leyden; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Keith is also survived by his canine companion Jack. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Gary Edgar and Pearl Boardman, and maternal grandparents Ed and Lina Hardy.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 18, at 11:00 am at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Interment this spring will be in Brooks Cemetery, Hawkinsville. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7pm and again on Friday from 9 am until the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to Lyons Falls Fire Dept. Charles L. Finley, 93, of Catherine St., died Tuesday, January 15, 2019.

Family and friends may call Thursday (Jan 17) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St., Lyons. A funeral service will be held Friday (Jan. 18) 11 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Spencer St., in Lyons. Burial will be in Swinburn Cemetery in Deer River, NY in the spring.

Mr. Finley was born in Deer River, NY on August 13, 1925. He graduated from Copenhagen High School, State University of Oswego, and earned a Master’s Degree from New York University. He served in the Navy in WWII in the South Pacific. Mr. Finley was a teacher in Lewis County, a Professor at State University at Oswego, a Safety Educator for the NYS Education Department in Albany and was a Church Organist at numerous churches and organ emeritus at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lyons. His lifelong joys were his family, safe driving, nature, music and literature.

He is survived by his daughters, Lisa (Tom) Rapple of Malta, NY, Claudia (Tom) Lambdin of Skaneateles and Christine (Jean) Michel of Lyons; sons, Mark of South Carolina, David (Marina) of California and Allen of Lyons; and his many grandchildren.

Mr. William T. Kirchgasser, age 79 of Colton, NY and formerly of Potsdam, NY passed away suddenly on January 14th in the ER at the Canton Potsdam Hospital. Francis Paul “Fran” Murphy

Francis Paul “Fran” Murphy, 87, of Canton passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at LaPoint’s Adult Home, where he was under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley.

Fran was born December 6, 1931 in Potsdam, the son of the late Paul and Mildred (Butler) Murphy. From youth, Fran was fascinated by radio, which expanded to an interest in electronics. Following graduation from Canton High School, he attended Clarkson University prior to serving his county in the Air Force during the Korean War. His training and work on electronic systems while in the service provided him with the foundation for a career in that field. He established his own radio and TV repair business and worked for St. Lawrence University’s audio-visual department, retiring from SLU to continue a business erecting and maintaining satellite dishes and radio towers, a vocation that took him all over St. Lawrence County. Fran enjoyed 56 years of marriage to Kathleen (Wood) Murphy, prior to her death on March 1, 2013.

Fran enjoyed the outdoors. He took his family on hikes and on camping trips in a van he’d adapted for the purpose. Fran loved music, and he, along with Kathleen and their young family, would sing around campfires. In retirement, Fran and Kathleen wintered in Florida, where he was a renowned dancer at the local Moose Lodge and Elk’s Club. In Canton, in later years, he enjoyed trips to the VFW Post, where he will be remember for his Manhattans or Scotch, with a splash of water. He relished the opportunity to take his daily walk around the Partridge Run Golf Course, until arthritis, in his 80’s made the exercise too painful.

Francis is survived by his five children, Cynthia, Lawrence, Patricia, Vicky and Colleen; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary “Jane” Patrick Murphy, a brother, Robert Murphy and nieces and nephews.

LOWVILLE – Adalene M. Lehman, 88, of Hummingbird Lane, Lowville, passed away on Wednesday morning, January 16, 2019, at the Lewis County General Hospital.

The Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Naumburg Mennonite Church with Pastors Titus Mast, Myron Roggie and Greg Widrick officiating. Adalene is survived by three sisters, Doris Lehman of Lowville, Loretta Lehman, of Lowville, and Kathleen Moser of Castorland, one brother, Aaron (Winifred) Lehman of Slave Lake, Alberta, Canada, and 12 nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and two great-great-great nephews and several cousins. She is predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Clifton and Belva Lehman, and a brother-in-law, Rev. Elmer Moser.

Adalene was born at home in the town of Copenhagen on November 10, 1930, the daughter of the late Aaron K. and Saviera Gingerich Lehman. She attended country school in Naumburg through 8th grade. Adalene accepted Jesus as her Savior during her teen years. She worked at Lowville laundry for a short time and for Climax Manufacturing for 38 years.

She was an active charter member of Naumburg Mennonite Church and she taught Sunday School and Bible School at both Naumburg and Lowville Mennonite Churches. She made many items for the Naumburg Sewing Circle. Adalene was a fantastic baker and cook…the BBQ queen of the Lehman family. She loved traveling with family, camping, coloring, crocheting, knitting, visiting, reading, and joking with friends.

Gloria Jean McAdam

Gloria Jean McAdam, 62, of Canton, died peacefully in the comfort of her home where she was under the care of family and Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley on Tuesday, January 15, 2019.

Gloria was born December 24, 1956 in Gouverneur, the daughter of the late Donald and Ruth (VanDuzee) McAdam. She graduated from Gouverneur High School and received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Government from St. Lawrence University.

Gloria spent a lot of her adult life in Hartford, Connecticut where she was the President and CEO of FoodShare of Greater Connecticut for 25 years. She was a member of the Asylum Hill Congregational Church and Hartford Heights Tall Club. After relocating back to St. Lawrence County, her community mindedness continued, she was Executive Director of GardenShare in Canton for the past two to three years and has been an active member of the Canton United Methodist Church, taking part in several organizations affiliated with the church and was a founding leader of Canton’s new Cub Scout Pack 11. She was also a member of the Canton Rotary and was awarded the Roatian of the Year award for 2017-2018. Gloria opened her home to several foster children over the years and whether she adopted them or not, the considered them her “children”.

Gloria is survived by three daughters, Anastasia McCarroll of Canton; Lori and Julie McAdam of Hartford, CT; a son Donald “DJ” Gorra of Boston, MA, several grandchildren, including Ethan McCarroll; three brothers, Stephen, Michael and Corey McAdam; a sister, Kim McAdam and several cousins, which include Peggy McAdam, Christine Nash and Alberta “Bertie” Nash as well as her two dogs, Petey and Odin.

WINTHROP—Arrangements for 55 year old Nyoka M. Brown, a resident of Green Meadows Road, Winthrop, are incomplete at this time with the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood. Mrs. Brown passed away Tuesday evening in Syracuse at SUNY Upstate University. A complete obituary will be available when finalized. The Buck Funeral Home in Norwood is serving the family of Nyoka M. Brwon.

Lucy C. Reff, 23, of Clayton passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse.

Calling hours will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 521 James St., Clayton on Sunday, January 20, from 2 - 5 PM. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church on Monday, January 21, at 11 AM. Spring burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery will be at a time and date to be announced.

Lucy was born in Watertown on April 23, 1995, daughter of Mark A. and Laura E. Bogenschutz Reff. She was a 2014 graduate of Thousand Islands High School and a 2017 graduate of Jefferson Community College with an Allied Health Degree. Lucy was a medical student at Upstate Medical University in the Respiratory Therapy Department and was due to graduate in May.

She had worked as an employee at the Koffee Kove Restaurant and as a clerk at Reinman’s Department Store, both in Clayton, and was a dental office assistant in Syracuse. Currently, Lucy was a Respiratory Therapist at Upstate Medical Center, St. Joseph’s Hospital, and Crouse Hospital.

She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church. She was an altar server and enjoyed volunteering for events, which included the Booster Club and Food Fair. She had been a Girl Scout and through her school years, a soccer player. Lucy also enjoyed dancing and had instructed in Hip Hop at the Tricia Clement Dance Studio. She loved the outdoors, the River, boating and jet skiing, snowmobiling, exercising, and running. She owned an American quarter horse, Miss Peppy Solo, known as Reba. Lucy enjoyed being an equestrian, competing in 4-H competitions, and was a member of both the Black River Valley and St. Lawrence Valley Horse Associations.

She is survived by her parents, Mark and Laura Reff, Clayton; brother, Joshua A. Reff, Clayton; paternal grandmother, Clara J. Reff, Clayton; maternal grandmother, Veronica A. Bogenschutz, Watertown; fiance, Skyler J. Weston, LaFargeville, his mother, Jana L. Robbins, LaFargeville and his sister, Shyanne L. Yelle, Brownville; her best friend and maid of honor, Jessie Seeger; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

LOWVILLE – Ellen M. Yousey, 98, formerly of Cardinal Lane, Lowville, passed away Tuesday evening, January 15, 2019, at the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility, where she has resided since February 14, 2018.

The funeral service will be held at Croghan Mennonite Church, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 21, 2019 with Pastor Paul Mast and Pastor Bruce Roggie officiating. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in the Croghan Mennonite Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Croghan Mennonite Church Sewing Circle, P.O. Box 68, Croghan, NY 13327. Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.

She is survived by a sister, Arlene Yousey of Lowville, a brother and sister-in-law, Ira and Juanita Yousey of Lowville, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by two brothers, Daniel Yousey and Sterling Yousey, three sisters, Alta Steria, Cleo Lehman, and Gladys Nafziger.

Ellen was born at home in the Town of Croghan on April 18, 1920, the daughter of the late Chris B. and Katie C. Moser Yousey. She attended country school district 22, Belfort, and then attended country school, Kirschnerville, district 10 and Beaver Falls High School. She helped on the family farm. When she was 21, Ellen went to work in Lowville for Dr. Paul VanZierolfen and his wife doing domestic work from 1942-1966. Ellen worked for Beaverite Products, Croghan, from 1962-1982, until retirement.

She was an active member of Croghan Mennonite Church, a member of the singles and widows group at the church. She was active with the Croghan Mennonite Church Sewing Circle. Ellen enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, reading and gardening.
