She married Joseph Vaadi II on January 30, 1943 at St. John’s Catholic Church in LaFargeville with Father Viau officiating. The couple resided in LaFargeville then moved to Rodman in 1974. Mr. Vaadi died January 16, 2007. /ppSurviving her are 3 daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Thomas Fleming, Copenhagen; Janice and Martin Biezad, Apache Junction, AZ; Susan and Martin Lee, Jerome, ID; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph S., Watertown; Douglas and Margrette, Rodman and Charles “Chip” and Gail, Mannsville. 4 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Hirschey, 93, of the Ridge Road, died early Thursday morning, June 2, 2016, with her loving family by her side, at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse./ppMrs. Hirschey was born September 4, 1922, in Croghan the daughter of the late Norman J. and Huldah M. (Virkler) Farney. Bernice graduated from Beaver Falls High School and was united in marriage with Leland A. Hirschey on September 4, 1942, at Salem Evangelical Parsonage with the Rev. Frank C. Hube, officiating. She and Leland were dairy farmers and 4th generation on the Hirschey homestead where they raised their sixteen children. Mr. Hirschey died on Saturday, December 19, 1992. /ppSurviving are her children and spouses, John C.; LuWenda M. Mohrman; Ronald L.; Bruce E. and Gayle; Michael L. and Judy; Martin A. and Linda; Randall L. and Shirley; Loren D.; Norman J. and Vikki; Sara A. and Scott King; Martha J. Cuilla; Rebecca J. pNORWOOD – After a courgeous and valiant battle with cancer, Mr. Emmett Gerald Duprey, 78, of 539 Austin Ridge Road, peacefully passed away early Thursday morning, June 2, 2016 at his home with his family by his side./ppEmmett was born August 2, 1937 in Mooers, New York, the son of the late Emmett H. and Albertine Barcomb Duprey. He attended Sacred Heart school. On October 26, 1957, he married Mary Florence Perry at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church with Mgsr. Francis J. Maguire, officating. /ppEmmett was an equipment operator and truck driver, first working during the construction of the Seaway, later with JC Merriman’s and Red McLean Trucking, until his retirement. He was a communicant of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church. He greatly enjoyed all outdoor activities and cherished the times he spent visiting with his family and friends./ppEmmett is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Florence; his children, David and Vicki Duprey of Liverpool; Lynaya and Ronald Wallace of Norwood; and Lisa and Brian Burdick of West Potsdam. Sylver; her children, Brianna Sylver-Galvao and Allison Kaufmann; her sons-in-law, Adriano Galvao and Joshua Kaufmann; her grandchildren, Analise Kaufmann (age 7), Julia Kaufmann (age 5), LiviaGalvao (age 4), Lucas Kaufmann (age 3), and Phillip Kaufmann (age 1) and her siblings, Sherri Ginger, Roger Hadley, Sue Ashcraft, and Kevin Hadley. /ppJulie was born in Carthage on April 1, 1955 to Roger Hadley and Kay Hadley-Dugas. She graduated from Carthage High School in 1973 and then attended Onondaga Community College where she was accredited with a NY State Dental Hygiene certificate in 1975. On October 25, 1975, she married her high school sweetheart, Alan, who is a local businessman currently employed by Gambles Distributors. On September 10, 1979 and March 27, 1983, she welcomed her two beautiful daughters into the world, both whom were the most important part of her life./ppJulie had a career in dental hygiene working for the majority of her career for Dr. Stabins of Watertown and Dr. Vincent Cesario of Black River, NY. To Julie, her patients meant the world to her. She very much enjoyed sharing in their life journeys, both their own as well as their families. /ppJulie also, along with Alan, ran Twin Village Auto from 1978 – 1988. In that time, she and Alan made a positive—and legacy-based impression—on their girls around the importance of hard work, commitment, resilience, and grit. /ppPeace to Julie meant as much time camping as was possible. For the past seven years, her summer solace has been sought at Upper Saranac Lake. She was her happiest sitting on their beach site, with a book, a prime view of the lake and mountains and listening to the calls of the loons in the background. /ppJulie will be deeply missed by all family, friends and community who have shared in her life. Even those whom she has never met have come to understand her “magic” as an individual. Tim was born on February 16, 1960 the son of Lawrence H. and Fleurette (LaLonde) LaShomb. /ppHe is survived by his friends and workers, and special friend Ro at the Furnace Street IRA. He is also survived by his three brothers, Roger and Julia LaShomb, Joseph LaShomb and Karen Wood and Phillip LaShomb all of Massena along with his two sisters, Mary Hall of Massena and Susan and Victor Bader of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by six nieces, five nephews and 9 great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, father and sister, Sheila Harrod. /ppTim attended Massena Central Schools and Potsdam & Norwood Dayhab. He was a man of little needs who loved getting attention, going for rides with friends, riding on his brother’s motorcycle, being with his friends and family at the IRA and had a special love for cats.
