pCASTORLAND – Bernice F. Hirschey, 93, of the Ridge Road, died early Thursday morning, June 2, 2016, with her loving family by her side, at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse./ppMrs. Hirschey was born September 4, 1922, in Croghan the daughter of the late Norman J. and Huldah M. (Virkler) Farney. Bernice graduated from Beaver Falls High School and was united in marriage with Leland A. Hirschey on September 4, 1942, at Salem Evangelical Parsonage with the Rev. Frank C. Hube, officiating. She and Leland were dairy farmers and 4th generation on the Hirschey homestead where they raised their sixteen children. Mr. Hirschey died on Saturday, December 19, 1992. /ppSurviving are her children and spouses, John C.; LuWenda M. Mohrman; Ronald L.; Bruce E. and Gayle; Michael L. and Judy; Martin A. and Linda; Randall L. and Shirley; Loren D.; Norman J. and Vikki; Sara A. and Scott King; Martha J. Cuilla; Rebecca J. Hirschey; Daniel L.; Kristina M. Panowicz; Laura L. and Samuel Villanti; 43 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Jane “Polly” Farney; Pearl Hirschey; Marion Hirschey; and Alberta Hirschey./ppShe is predeceased by, her precious one day old daughter, Diane Bernice; a daughter-in-law, Molly Hirschey; a son-in-law, Timothy Panowicz; her sister, Louise Purvines; her brothers, /ppNiles E. Sr., Alan L., Kenneth A., and Donald N. Farney./ppBernice’s garden was her pride and joy, enjoying canning, sewing and entertaining her family, she was an “old fashion homemaker”. She loved the outdoors and in her earlier years traveled with her husband to many places, but her favorites were, The Garden of Gods, Red Rock, Grand Canyon, and Hawaii./ppMrs. Hirschey was a member of Naumburg and Croghan Apostolic Christian Church of America where a funeral service will be held 1:00 pm on Sunday, June 5th at the church with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be in Naumburg Apostolic Cemetery.
