pNORWOOD – After a courgeous and valiant battle with cancer, Mr. Emmett Gerald Duprey, 78, of 539 Austin Ridge Road, peacefully passed away early Thursday morning, June 2, 2016 at his home with his family by his side./ppEmmett was born August 2, 1937 in Mooers, New York, the son of the late Emmett H. and Albertine Barcomb Duprey. He attended Sacred Heart school. On October 26, 1957, he married Mary Florence Perry at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church with Mgsr. Francis J. Maguire, officating. /ppEmmett was an equipment operator and truck driver, first working during the construction of the Seaway, later with JC Merriman’s and Red McLean Trucking, until his retirement. He was a communicant of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church. He greatly enjoyed all outdoor activities and cherished the times he spent visiting with his family and friends./ppEmmett is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Florence; his children, David and Vicki Duprey of Liverpool; Lynaya and Ronald Wallace of Norwood; and Lisa and Brian Burdick of West Potsdam. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, his sisters, Bernadette Miller of Massena; Anna and Neal Miller of Canton; and Marilyn Rivers of Massena; and several nieces and nephews./ppIn addition to his parents, Emmett was sadly predeceased by his daughter, Lori Butterfield on February 18, 1998; his brother, Ernest Duprey in 1969; and two sisters, Eileen Jeanson in 2015 and Mary Donie in 2015./ppFriends may call at the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam, Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday 11:00 AM at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Norwood with Msgr. John Murphy, celebrating.
