pCarthage- Julie (Hadley) Sylver, a dental hygienist and life-long resident of Carthage, NY, died unexpectedly on June 2, 2016 at the age of 61. /ppJulie is survived by her husband, Alan J. Sylver; her children, Brianna Sylver-Galvao and Allison Kaufmann; her sons-in-law, Adriano Galvao and Joshua Kaufmann; her grandchildren, Analise Kaufmann (age 7), Julia Kaufmann (age 5), LiviaGalvao (age 4), Lucas Kaufmann (age 3), and Phillip Kaufmann (age 1) and her siblings, Sherri Ginger, Roger Hadley, Sue Ashcraft, and Kevin Hadley. /ppJulie was born in Carthage on April 1, 1955 to Roger Hadley and Kay Hadley-Dugas. She graduated from Carthage High School in 1973 and then attended Onondaga Community College where she was accredited with a NY State Dental Hygiene certificate in 1975. On October 25, 1975, she married her high school sweetheart, Alan, who is a local businessman currently employed by Gambles Distributors. On September 10, 1979 and March 27, 1983, she welcomed her two beautiful daughters into the world, both whom were the most important part of her life./ppJulie had a career in dental hygiene working for the majority of her career for Dr. Stabins of Watertown and Dr. Vincent Cesario of Black River, NY. To Julie, her patients meant the world to her. She very much enjoyed sharing in their life journeys, both their own as well as their families. /ppJulie also, along with Alan, ran Twin Village Auto from 1978 – 1988. In that time, she and Alan made a positive—and legacy-based impression—on their girls around the importance of hard work, commitment, resilience, and grit. /ppPeace to Julie meant as much time camping as was possible. For the past seven years, her summer solace has been sought at Upper Saranac Lake. She was her happiest sitting on their beach site, with a book, a prime view of the lake and mountains and listening to the calls of the loons in the background. /ppJulie will be deeply missed by all family, friends and community who have shared in her life. Even those whom she has never met have come to understand her “magic” as an individual. Consistently Brianna and Allison meet individuals in their respective lives who remark, “Your mother must be an amazing woman to have produced someone so strong, centered and committed as you.” /ppCalling hours will be held on Monday evening from 4-7 pm at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 7th at the New Life Carthage Campus, Outer West Street Road (1 mile past the Carthage Area Hospital) with Pastor Harry R. Jenson officiating. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to VEM Food Pantry at P.O. Box 566, Carthage, NY 13619./ppTo leave a condolence, go to www.bezanillafh.com./p
