Alice B. Ott

pA Memorial Service for Alice B. Ott, age 88 of Ogdensburg, will be held at 11:00am on Friday July 29, 2016 at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Smith officiating. Interment will be at Foxwood Memorial Park./ppCalling hours will be held also on Friday from 10:00am until the time of the funeral. Mrs. Ott past away Sunday (Feb 28, 2016) at the Riverledge Healthcare Facility. /ppShe was born on November 11, 1927 in Ogdensburg, the daughter of Edgar & Jennie LaCombe. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in June of 1945 and in December of that same year, she married Samuel W. Ott. The couple settled in Ogdensburg./ppAlice worked as a bookkeeper for various local businesses during her career to include the George Hall Corporation and Don Trimm’s Auto. She also worked as a sales clerk for the Puritan Store. She owned her own business Ott’s Liquor Store for several years before retiring. In retirement, Alice was an avid volunteer for many organizations to include her church, The First Congregation Church, where she held many positions, and even preached a sermon on occasion. She volunteered for St. Lawrence County Hospice and the Red Cross, and was recognized by Hospice for her efforts by winning the “Volunteer of the Year” award. She was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. Alice was a member of the Maple City Chapter 71 Order of The Eastern Star. Her family will remember her most for the famous Sunday dinners where if you left hungry you were in the wrong house. She was an avid reader and collected many books. /ppAlice is survived by her son Jim and his wife Connie of Fort Myers, FL, and a son-in-law Tom McCullough of Ogdensburg and Oakland, CA; her five grandchildren and their spouses; Lesli Ott Kirby and her husband Brian of Ogdensburg; Jennifer Ott Isenhower and her husband Mike of Fort Myers, FL; Bill Ott and his wife Tonya of Ogdensburg; Andrea McCullough and her husband Ian Jansen of Oakland, CA; and Beth Ladouceur and her husband Jamie of Heuvelton. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Sheena Kirby, Wyatt Kirby, Emma Ladouceur, Alice McCullough, Carlee Isenhower, Isabel Isenhower, Jakob Ladouceur, Gabriella Ott, and Lillian McCullough-Jansen, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter Martha McCullough in 2007, an infant son Paul Ott; a grandson-in-law, Spencer Grennon in 2007, her husband Samuel in 1989, her sister Marie Ott and her brother Edgar LaCombe. /ppArrangements are with the Fox & Murray Funeral Home.
