pHANNAWA FALLS – Mr. Lyndon C. Snyder, 82, of 118 T Alexander Road, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 30, 2016 at Upstate University Hospital, with his sons by his side./ppLyn was born December 25, 1933 in the Town of Stockholm, the son of the late Samuel and Mabel Wescott Snyder. He attended Stockholm rural schools before graduating from Potsdam High School. Lynn entered the US Army on August 31, 1956 and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge on August 29, 1958. On December 26, 1956 while home on leave, he married Kay Louise Hadley at the Potsdam First United Methodist Church with Rev. Merle Brown, officiating. Kay predeceased him on March 8, 2001. /ppLyn worked for New York Telephone as a mechanic for many years, retiring in 1995. He had previously worked for Scanlon’s Auto Parts and owned and operated Lyn’s Sunoco Station on Market Street for several years. He was a member of the Crary Mills Presbyterian Church and former member of the Handsome Pond Hunting Club. He truly enjoyed the time he spent outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, or the time he spent at his home on the water. /ppLyn is survived by his sons, Roger Snyder (Gwen Richards) of Potsdam; and Greg Snyder of Akron, NY; his grandchildren, Christopher and Allison Snyder and Jared and Justin Richards; his brother, Lester G. Snyder of Canton; and many nieces and nephews./ppIn addition to his parents and his wife, Lyndon was predeceased by a brother, Roland Snyder; a sister, Emily Butterfield; and two half-brothers, Marvel and Bernard Eseltine. /ppFriends may call Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam, where funeral services will be held Friday 11:00 AM with Pastor Philip “Skip” Edie, officiating. Burial will follow in Crary Mills Cemetery. /ppMemorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Colton Volunteer Rescue Squad./ppCondolences and memories may be shared online at www.donaldsonseymour.com./p
