pMassena: William “Bill” Hurley, 83, of Massena, NY, passed away on July 30, 2016 at University of Vermont Medical Center after a brief illness with his wife Beatrice Catanzarite Hurley and family by his side. Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, August 5, 2016 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery./pp William was born on April 18, 1933 in Massena, the son of Francis and Gertrude (Hammill) Hurley. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953-1955. Bill married Beatrice Catanzarite on July 8, 1972 at St. Mary’s Church in Massena. He worked at Alcoa for over 32 years, retiring in 1993. William was also a member of the American Legion Post #79./ppBill is survived by his Wife Beatrice of 44 years; his brothers and sisters, John and wife Arlene Hurley of Newington, CT; Ann Dlugozima of Cicero, NY; Tom and wife Sandy Hurley of Haverhill, MA; Bob and wife Kris Hurley of Gahanna, Ohio; and Joan and husband John Johnson of Cicero, NY./pp“Uncle Bill,” as he is affectionately known by his family, is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.
