pCarmel L. Kamide, 89, of 221 Church St., died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday morning, August 28, 2016 at her residence./ppCarmel was born in Carthage on September 12, 1926, the daughter of the late Paul and Selma Bahou Kamide. She was a graduate of Augustinian Academy, Central Business Institute of Watertown and Jefferson Community College. She later attended Utica College and SUNY at Geneseo. Her first employment was at the lunch counter at the former JJ Newberry’s Store in Carthage. Next, she worked as a secretary for the New York Central Railroad in Carthage for 20 years and finally she retired in 1988 from Dr. John Farrell’s practice in Watertown after 20 years of service. She loved knitting and crocheting. /ppCarmel was a member of St. James Catholic Church of Carthage and the Ave Maria Circle./ppShe is survived by her brother: George M. Kamide of Carthage and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by four brothers, Harris, Caream, Thomas and Rev. Paul Kamide and two sisters, Genevieve Kamide and Agnes Nutter. /ppFuneral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Donald A. Robinson, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Carthage. Calling hours will be held privately by the family.
