pCarl R. Benware, age 87, passed away August 27, 2016 at the Samaritan Keep Home./ppA native of Herrings, he was born October 1, 1928 to the late Ballard & Eva Serviss Benware. He attended school in Herrings. Carl was first employed at the St. Regis Paper Mill in Herrings and subsequently worked for Crown Zellerbach Corp. in Carthage until his retirement. He then moved from Herrings to Clinton Court Apartments in Watertown where he lived for over 20 years until he became ill in August 2014./ppCarl was very much appreciated by his family for taking care of his mother in her home for 25 years after his father passed away. He enjoyed cooking, walking in the mall, spending time with his friends and family, watching westerns and re-runs on television, and he was a New York Yankees fan./pp He is survived by one brother, Clarence Benware of Black River, along with several nieces and nephews: Anthony, Brenda, Cheryl, Debra, Donald, Ginger, Kevin, Linda, Lynne, Penny, Sandra and Susan, and their families, along with various cousins. His siblings Lyndon, Harold, and Jeanette died before him./ppA calling hour will be held on Wednesday, August 31st from 12:00 noon until 1:00pm at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage. Per his wishes he will be buried next to his sister, Jeanette, and her late husband Gilbert W.
