pFOWLER/LAFARGEVILLE – Charles “Charlie” LaRose, age 79, formerly of Lafargeville, passed away at the Gouverneur Hospital after being stricken ill at home in Fowler./ppCalling hours will be at French Funeral Home in Gouverneur on Monday, September 12, 2016 from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. His funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Donald Bryant officiating. Burial will be in the Depauville Memorial Cemetery./ppCharlie was born on May 30, 1937 in Depauville to the late Joseph and Flora (Darou) LaRose. He grew up in Depauville and graduated from the Lafargeville High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps until being medically discharged./ppCharlie married Barbara Denner on December 1, 1957. Together they owned and operated their dairy farm, “Level Acres” in Lafargeville. Mr. LaRose also worked as a driller for the Local Laborers Union #322. Barbara passed away on August 23, 2007. /ppCharlie enjoyed fiddling, was a member of the Black River Valley Fiddlers and the Country Stompers, liked to hunt, fish, and spend time with his family. In 2008 he moved to Fowler to be with his companion, Barb Brown./ppHis survivors include his daughter, Terese and Michael Cole of Gouverneur; two sons, Ronnie LaRose of Lafargeville and Timothy and Kim LaRose of Lafargeville; three sisters, Ida Mae Denner of Alexandria Bay, Debbie Dingman of Texas and JoAnne Ramsey of Florida; 8 grandchildren, Kristal and Bobby Newcombe, Mindy and Kevin Edney, Ashley and Kevin Swem, Rebeca, Matthew, Katelyn, Jacqueline, and Joseph LaRose; and 8 great-grandchildren, Kenzie, Kayla, and Konnor Newcombe, Hunter and Michael Swem, Jacob and Taylor Edney, and Jada LaRose./ppHe is also survived by his companion, Barb Brown of Fowler; and her children, Ernie and Laurie Brown of Warners, Kerry and Laurie Brown of Richville, and Cammy and Daniel Morrison of Brownville./ppCharlie is predeceased by his parents and a sister, Greta Antwine./ppCondolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com./p
