pCanton— Clifford “Tunk” Warden Bisnett, 92, of Stevens Street, Canton, died peacefully at his home while under the care of his wife, Renice and Hospice & Palliative Care./ppThe family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 from 5-8 PM at the Lawrence Funeral Home, 21 Park Street, Canton. His funeral will be Thursday, September 15th at 11:00 AM with Rev. John Frary officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. He attended Canton Schools./pp“Tunk” was self employed for many years in the sand and gravel business, going to work for the Village of Canton in 1976 until his retirement in 1997./ppPreviously, he worked for the Aluminum Co. of America, before joining the Navy and upon his return he worked for his father in the Bisnett Scrap Iron Business./ppOn February 14, 1953, he married Renice Wells in the First Baptist Parsonage in Canton with the late Rev. Coffey as celebrant./ppTunk is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Clint & Sherry Adner of Canton, Norris & Holly Pike of Glens Falls, NY, Dennis & Sandra Babson of Fort Edward, NY; two/ppgrandchildren, Mrs. Patrick (Renee` Babson) Donato of Rochester, NY, Stuart Babson of Buffalo, NY; two great-grandsons, Derek Anthony Donato and Aiden Alan Donato; as well as a number of step-grand and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Chester (Janet) Bisnett of Norwood, NY and a sister, Olive Hatter of Tuscon, AZ and a number of nieces nephews and cousins./ppHe was predeceased by a grandson, Jared Clifford Adner and five siblings, Theodore and Clayton Bisnett, Evelyn Cunningham, Edna Gilbo & Marguerite St. John. /ppHe had a nickname for everyone, especially his wife whom he called “The Brat”./pp“Tunk” served in the US Navy as Seaman First Class from 1-28-44 to 12-26-45 aboard the DD 221 Simpson in the Atlantic Ocean during WWII. He was on Convoy Duty out of Cuba to tow targets at night. He was inducted into the Navy at Sampson, NY, where he completed basic training and was then sent to Norfolk, VA Naval Base./ppHe was a Life Member of Edward C. Seymour, Post #1231, Canton, NY having served as Commander from 1961-1968, 1971-1972 and 1975-1976./ppHe was an avid hunter, enjoying time spent at his hunting camp at West Pierrepont with family and friends./ppTunk was influential in the demolition of the following buildings: Fisher Hall at St. Lawrence University, Canton Town Hall after it was destroyed by fire, Clark’s Store and the Hotel R./p
