pWADDINGTON: Robert V. Ritter, 92, formerly of Waddington, NY passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the Maplewood Nursing Home in Canton./ppBob was born in Schenectady, NY on June 20, 1924, son of Raymond and Edith (Vroman) Ritter. He was a 1942 graduate of Dwight Morrow High School, Englewood, NJ and Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY in 1946. Upon graduation Bob began work as an illustrator at Casanova Associates, New York. He later began his association with numerous publications, book publishers and advertising agencies./ppOn August 31, 1952 he married Mary Anne McBride at First Presbyterian Church, Waddington. Mrs. Ritter predeceased her husband on February 21, 2009./ppIn 1956 he moved his family from Queens to New City, NY where he resided for 33 years, was a founding member of the New City Volunteer Ambulance Corp., was active in his church and was active in numerous other community activities during his lifetime./ppBob, a lifelong artist was a self-employed illustrator and graphic designer for many years in New York City. His work appeared regularly in Newsweek Magazine, The New York Times, Prentice-Hall Publishing and others. He later taught his craft at Parsons School of Design in New York and upon relocating to the North Country established a weekly adult art class in Waddington./ppBob is survived by his loving companion and fellow artist Betty Jean Kentner as well as his four children and their spouses, Robert V. Jr. and Doreen, Allison Ritter Koch and Michael, Christopher and Maureen, Elizabeth Ritter Mott and Bryan, and nine grandchildren./ppA memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, 13 Fenton Street in Waddington. Burial will follow be to follow in Old Brookside Cemetery, Waddington./ppDonations in his memory can be made to The First Presbyterian Church of Waddington, P.O.
