NORFOLK— Services for 57 year old Daniel J. Hitsman, a resident of 240 County Rt. 38, will be held privately for the family at the Buck Funeral Home. Mr. Hitsman passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at his home. Daniel is survived by his wife, June A. Hitsman, Norfolk; his mother, Sylvia “Sue” Hitsman, Waddington; his sons, Daniel and Bobbie Hitsman Jr., Lisbon; Darren Hitsman and his companion Jennifer Fields, Lisbon; Matthew Cota; Ogdensburg; Travis Cota and his companion Kady Fields, Heuvelton; Ryan Cota and his companion Sarah Ingersoll, Buffalo; Andrew and Brooke Moffitt, Colton; his daughters, Stephanie and David Reynolds, Raymondville; Stacie Hitsman, Chase Mills and Lindsay Cota and her companion Matt LaBar, Chase Mills; his seventeen grandchildren; two brothers, Timothy and Kimberly Hitsman, and Jeffery and Diane Hitsman, both of Lisbon; his two sisters, Lorrie and Edward Sharlow, Waddington and Lisa Callahan, Virginia as well as several nieces and nephews. Daniel was pre-deceased by his father and his first wife Amy.
Born in Canton on July 21, 1959 to James and Sylvia Lottie Hitsman, Daniel married Amy Barish in 1979. Amy later passed on March 10, 1990. Daniel later married June A. Hawn on February 22, 1997. He served in the U.S. Army for 10 years and worked in the construction field and also as a truck driver, driving for Greymont in Massena, NY. Daniel loved spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, tending to his animals and horses, going to camp, socializing with family and friends and spending time with his grandchildren.
