Lillian E. Pinkham, S. James St., Carthage, N.Y. died Friday, March 17, 2017. Her passing on St. Patrick’s Day is most appropriate as Lillian always claimed to be “very, very, Irish”.
Lillian was born in Island Falls, ME. on January 28, 1926, to Shepard and Loraine Jones Edwards. She graduated from Island Falls High School and went on to earn her Psychology degree from the Univ. of Maine, Orono in 1948. It was there that she met and married the love of her life, Robert A. Pinkham. Robert died in 1993.
Lillian loved music, dogs and a nice glass of wine, but more than anything she enjoyed her large and loving family.
Survivors include Lillian and Robert’s 4 children; Laureen P. Waterhouse (John) of Carthage, Bruce V. Pinkham (Roseann) of Castorland, Gregory C. Pinkham of Carthage and Scott R. Pinkham (Natalie) of Kokomo, Ind.
She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; Mary Benson (Mike), Mark Waterhouse (Jennifer), Timothy Waterhouse and Kathleen Purington (Sam), all of Carthage. Also, Jessica Hirschey (Jon) of New Providence, NJ, Rachel Woodworth (Rob) of Carthage, Robert W. Pinkham (Jane) of Lowville, Sarah McGough (Mark) of Elyria, OH. Also, Matthew, Paul and Robert A. Pinkham, all of Bloomington, Ind.
Lillian had 15 great-grandchildren; Andrew, Lillian, Clara, Eric, Luke, Jack, Julia, Charles, Brooklynn, Colton, Jackson, Logan, Nora, Ian and Connor.
She is also survived by 2 sisters-in-law; Janet Edwards of Hampton, NH and Mary P. Croswell of Waterville, ME.
Besides her husband, Lillian was predeceased by her parents, 2 brothers, Shepard and Ray Edwards and her daughter-in-law, Susan Pinkham.
There will be no calling hours or funeral but a private celebration for Lillian and Robert will be held at the family camp in Maine.
