Carol A. Cozzi, 82, of Watertown passed away Friday afternoon, March 17, 2017, at Lewis County General Hospital. She had resided at the East Road Adult Home, Lowville, N.Y. prior to the hospital and in Watertown before going to Lowville.
Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown on Wednesday March 22, 2017 from, 11:00am to 1:00pm with a prayer service following at 1:30pm with Msgr. Robert H. Aucoin, Pastor of St. Patrick’s Church presiding. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
Carol was born in Lowville on June 24, 1934, daughter of George L. and Mary Louise Post Millard. She graduated from Copenhagen High School and the Watertown School of Commerce. On July 30, 1960 she married Richard C. Cozzi at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Benoit Dostie, MSC, officiating.
She worked for Lawrence Ormiston, corporate council for the City of Watertown, as a secretary, for eight years at Ruddell Business Machines, as a secretary for Dr. William D. Carter, and as a secretary and bookkeeper for Dr. William Grave. For fourteen years she worked in the business office at the House of the Good Samaritan. She had attended Holy Family, St. Patrick’s, and St. Cecilia’s Churches, of which she was a member of its Ladies Group. Carol dearly loved her family. She was a former member of the National Secretary’s Association, Watertown. Carol enjoyed bowling and was a member of several bowling leagues, including the Watertown Women’s City League and the Utility Co-Ed Bowling League of Niagara Mohawk. She also enjoyed sewing, flower gardening, and writing poetry.
Carol is survived by her husband, Richard, Oswego; two brothers, Wilbur Millard and wife, Marie, Carthage and Gerald Millard and wife, Charlotte, Lowville; two sisters, Arletha Zecher, W. Carthage and Marlyn Bickom, LaFargeville; brother-in-law, Jack Grimsley, Trenton,Tenn.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Norma Jean Millard, in infancy, and Alfreda Grimsley, and two brothers-in-law, Richard Zecher and William Bickom.
