Wilma V. Schweitzer, 89, formerly of Dexter NY passed March 24, 2017 at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home where she has resided since 2014.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:30 p.m., Sunday, April 2 at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, 117 N. Massey St., Watertown.
Calling hours will precede the service on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Brownville Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Born on April 1, 1927 in the Town of Pamelia, daughter of Floyd and Laura (Brown) Gardner, she graduated from WHS in 1944.
She married Harry Schweitzer on June 24, 1945 at the Stone Street Presbyterian Church. The couple resided in Dexter where they owned and operated a dairy farm up until the late 80’s. During that time Wilma owned and operated a beauty shop out of her home up until she retired in 1991.
She was a former member of the Dexter Legion Auxiliary and Watertown VFW Auxiliary and she enjoyed gardening.
Among her survivors are a daughter and son in law, Sharon E. and Dalon P. Crump, Dexter; four sons and two daughters in law, Ronald F. and Judy Schweitzer, Bushnell, FL, Reginald J. and Diane Schweitzer, Chaumont, Wayne R. Schweitzer, Dexter, Steven S. Schweitzer, Dexter; a sister, Thelma Rogers, Watertown; 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by a son, Craig A. Schweitzer; a sister, Belva Golja and five brothers, Robert, Howard, Vernon, Donald and Ernest Gardner.
