Salvatore J. Prestigiacomo

LAFARGEVILLE- Salvatore J. Prestigiacomo, 75, of State Rt. 180, died Friday, March 24, 2017 at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, NY.

Born on April 26, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of Nicholas and Doris Dalen Prestigiacomo. He attended Brooklyn schools.

Salvatore married Elaine Hudson on January 31, 1964 in Hauppauge, NY.

He started working for Presti & Sons, his father’s trucking business on Long Island, NY and he was a heavy equipment operator of the Local #138, Operating Engineers, Long Island, NY. The couple moved to LaFargeville, NY in 1975 and he was employed at Hutchinson’s Boat Works and Rogers Marina, both in Alexandria Bay, NY. In 1984 he opened Presti’s Repair & Auto Parts, Clayton, NY, retiring in 2013.

Salvatore was a former member of the LaFargeville Fire Department.

He enjoyed restoring antique cars and auto body repairs, CB Club, horses and he was an antique race car driver (his car was a S360) and spending time with family and friends. After retiring he began woodworking.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Elaine; a daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Sean Bacon, Gansevoort, NY; a grandson, Owen Greene and a granddaughter, Willow Greene; a sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Alfred McEvoy, LaFargeville, NY; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Albert and Marsha Prestigiacomo, Newport Richey, FL and James and Marion Prestigiacomo, Dover, DE; several nieces and nephews.

His parents and a brother, Nicholas Prestigiacomo all died before him.

There are no services scheduled at this time. Arrangements are with Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa, NY.
