Sandra K. Robling, 73, of 173 West Remington St., Black River, passed March 28, 2017 at the Samaritan Medical Center.
Born on May 8, 1943 in Unionville, Michigan, daughter of Ora and Vera VanDeMark, she graduated from Unionville High School in 1961.
Following school she became a typist and worked at the Lincoln Life National Insurance Co. in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She met David Robling while he was attending college in Indiana. They married on June 15, 1968 in Fort Wayne, Indiana with David’s grandfather, Ralph W. Robling, officiating. Shortly thereafter the couple moved to Syracuse where David worked for General Electric and Sandra became a homemaker. Her husband was then drafted into the military and served twenty two years up until he retired. During that time they moved to Black River in the early 90’s and Sandra accumulated over 25,000 volunteer hours as a military spouse.
Sandra also was a Matron in the Order of the Eastern Stars, member and former President of the Black River VFW Auxiliary, she volunteered several years for the Jerry Lewis Telethon and was a member of the Black River United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed traveling, reading and embroidery.
Among her survivors are her loving and devoted husband, David P. Robling, Black River; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 31, at the Bruce Funeral Home, Black River.
The Order of the Eastern Star will hold a prayer service 10 a.m. Saturday, April 1 at the funeral home. A final prayer will be said at 10:30 a.m. before going the Black River United Methodist Church for an 11 a.m. funeral service with the Rev. Robert McCarthy, Pastor officiating.
Burial will take place in the Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
