Carthage- Virginia A. “Ginny” Malbouf-Kempney, 73, of 5418 Flood Road, died Sunday morning, April 16, 2017 at the Iroquois Nursing Home in Jamesville, NY.
Ginny was born on January 2, 1944, at home in the Town of Diana, the daughter of the late George and Marion (Pitts) Smith. She was a graduate of Harrisville Central School. She married Robert E. Malbouf on May 4, 1963 at the United Methodist Church in Harrisville. Robert died on April 24, 1981. She married Byron “Pete” Kempney on March 17, 2005 at St. James Church in Carthage with Rev. Geroge F. Maroun officiating. Ginny worked as a sales clerk for Farney Lumber Company in Carthage for several years before joining Minfelt Building Supplies in Watertown. There, she worked for 24 years, retiring in 2004.
She was a member of the Spinners & Weavers of Watertown and the Argonaut Club of Carthage.
She is survived by her husband: Byron “Pete” Kempney of Carthage, one daughter: Mrs. Charlie (Catherine) Ripley of Harrisville, two sons: William (Michelle) Malbouf of Watertown and Steven Malbouf of Lowville, three step sons: Kirk and Dale Kempney of St. Cloud, FL, Kraig (Angelia) Kempney of Carthage and Keith (Megan) Kempney of New Hartford, several Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren who affectionately called her “Gramma Ginny”, four sisters: Mrs. James (Billie) Manchester of Harrisville, Mrs. James (Linda) Phillips of Cleveland, OH, Kathy Wescott of Harrisville and Mrs. Kevin (Michelle) Virkler of Lowville, three brothers: Phillip (Susan) Smith of Rochester, Chuck Smith of Harrisville and James (Lisa) Smith of Harrisville and several nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Sheri L. Malbouf-Flint died on June 30, 2010.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, April 19 at 11:00am in St. James Catholic Church, Carthage with Rev. Donald A. Robinson, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Carthage at the family’s convenience. A calling hour will be held at the church, prior to the service on Wednesday from 10:00am to 11:00am. Funeral arrangements are with the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage.
