A Mass of Christian Burial for Gloria J. “KoKo” Gilbert, age 74, of Ogdensburg, NY will be held at 2:30 pm on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Notre Dame Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Morgan as the celebrant. Committal prayers will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm at Frary Funeral Home. Mrs. Gilbert passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 19, 2017.
Gloria is survived by her daughter, Kim Ives and her husband, Joe of Sherrill, NY; three sons, Roger TenEyck and his wife, Penni of Big Flats, NY, Scott Gilbert of Ogdensburg, and William Gilbert and his wife, Angel of Charlotte, NC; sister, Joyce Polniak and her husband, David of Ogdensburg; grandchildren, Jillian Kilian and her husband Jon, Michael Ives and his fiancé Mary Kacprowicz, Emily Ives, Cassidi TenEyck, Kennidi TenEyck and Kaden TenEyck; great grandchildren Patrick and Caroline Kilian; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gloria was born in Ogdensburg, NY on April 9, 1943, the daughter of the late Albert Allen and Elmira (Girard) Dupree. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in Ogdensburg. Gloria married Thomas W. Gilbert on October 10, 1970. He predeceased her on March 27, 2011. Gloria was also predeceased by her brother, Robert Thomas Dupree.
Mrs. Gilbert worked as a Nurses Aide and in the billing department at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center for many years where she eventually retired. She was a long time parishioner of Notre Dame Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society, served as a Eucharistic Minister and enjoyed volunteering her time cleaning the church. Gloria was also active volunteering her time at the Knights of Columbus Council #258 as well as being a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She loved spending time with her family, enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens, baking, reading, and travelling. Gloria will be dearly missed by those that knew her.
