Anthony P. Oddi, 86, Breen Ave., Watertown passed away at his home on Friday, May 12, 2017.
Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown on Wednesday, May 17, from 4 - 7PM. A prayer service will be at the funeral home on Thursday, May 18, at 9:15AM followed by the funeral mass celebrated at St. Anthony’s Church at 10AM with Msgr. Robert Aucoin, pastor, presiding. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
Tony was born in Watertown on January 17, 1931, son of Joseph and Mary Misercola Oddi. He attended St. Patrick’s Elementary School and graduated from Immaculate Heart Academy in 1948.
On December 27, 1950 he entered the US Air Force. He received the National Defense Service and Good Conduct Medals and was honorably discharged on December 1, 1954.
On April 11, 1953 Tony married Anna L. Pepe at St. Anthony’s Church with Fr. George Tobin officiating. Mrs. Oddi died December 10, 2007.
He was as a pavement marking supervisor for NYS DOT when he retired in April 1991 after 36 years of service to the state. He was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church and a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus, Council 259. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post 61, Italian American Club, and the Northside Improvement League, and enjoyed bowling.
Tony is survived by his three children, Joseph M. Oddi, Bradenton, FL, Therese M. “Terry” Ranger and husband, James, Watertown, and Joanne P. Onderdonk and husband, Douglas, Hilton; three grandchildren, Alyson and Zachary Ranger and Samantha Onderdonk, and 1 great grandson, Andrew Ranger; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with his wife, Anna, he was predeceased by two brothers, Albert M. and Orlando “Lefty” Oddi, and one sister, Angelinia Ratigliano.
