Mary M. Bouchard, 96, passed away at her home on S. Massey St., Watertown on Sunday, May 21, 2017.
Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown on Wednesday, May 24, from 4 - 7PM. A prayer service will be at the funeral home on Thursday, May 25, at 9:15AM followed by the funeral mass celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church at 10AM with Msgr. Robert Aucoin, pastor, presiding. Burial will be in Black River Cemetery.
Mary was born on Wolfe Island, Ontario, Canada on April 12, 1921, daughter of Francis M. and Elizabeth (Taylor) Baker. She attended Deferiet Grade School and graduated from Augustinian Academy, Carthage.
On Valentine’s Day, 1946 she married Clarence J. Bouchard at St. Rita’s Church, Deferiet. Mr. Bouchard died November 5, 1976.
She worked in the test lab at St. Regis Paper Co., Deferiet. She then began her career at Jefferson Rehabilitation Center, Watertown in 1968 and retired as a Sheltered Workshop Supervisor in 1988 after 20 years of service to the center.
Mary was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church. She enjoyed traveling with her sisters along with close friends.
She is survived by her three children, Marjorie A. “Marge” O’Brien, Syracuse, Robert J. Bouchard and wife, Sharon, Sackets Harbor, and Patricia E. Zaremba and husband, Arthur “Art” Jr., Watertown; 8 grandchildren, Shannon Exford, Eugene M. O’Brien, James J. O’Brien, Catherine A. Reidy, Lindsay A. Bouchard, Graig Zaremba, Justin Zaremba, and Ashley Carducci, 17 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Richard A. Smith, Deferiet; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with her husband, Clarence, she was predeceased by her three sisters, Dorothy Parmele, Eileen Baker, and Elizabeth “Betty” Smith.
Mary’s family would especially like to express their thanks to her caregiver, Mona Lentine, and the Hospice staff.
