Waddington: Sandra J. Sharpe, age 59, passed away after a brief illness at Claxton-Hepburn Hospital Sunday evening (May 21, 2017) surrounded by her loving family. As per her wishes, there will be no public calling hours. A graveside service will be held 12:00 P.M. Sunday, (May 28, 2017) at St. Mary’s Cemetery with Deacon Daniel B. McGrath officiating. Friends and family are welcome to attend A Celebration of Life immediately following the burial at the Waddington American Legion Post #420. Memorial contributions may be shared with Waddington Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 331, Waddington, NY 13694 or the Waddington Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 352, Waddington, NY 13694. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home, Waddington.
Sandra was born to the late William and Phyllis (Layo) Mahar on March 3, 1958 in Syracuse, NY. Sandra was previously worked at Thousand Island Bus Lines and was presently employed at Austin-Layng Glass & Radiator for nearly 25 years as a receptionist. She enjoyed watching football and was an avid NY Giants fan who enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She is survived by her aunt and uncle Mathew and Jane Layo of Waddington, a sister in-law Davalene Layng of Ogdensburg, NY nieces, nephews and several cousins. Sandra also leaves behind her beloved cat, “Eli”. Sandra was predeceased by her brother Daniel F. Mahar, in 2013.
